Just realized that might not be a knee on left guy, could be a stump, though he seems a little too raised up for there not to be a calf under that leg, so it's probably a knee. Not sure if it's a deliberate artistic thing to draw attention to the important bits, but righthand (lizard) guy's shadow seems to somehow come from a light source within the room, somewhere to the left of lefthand guy's knee.
