2023 is off to a great start... /s
Added 2023-02-01 13:31:17 +0000 UTCSo January started off okay. Peak ended. I didn't get any notifications I was going to be fired. I was working hard to demonstrate I'm a good Amazon employee and trying to get that blue badge. Everything was going okay. Was even doing a little more writing here and there.
Then I got a notice that I was fired. No warning. Just... fired. And it has turned into an immense, tangled, mess. I might one day tell the whole story, but until something is finalized, I'm going to stay quiet.
However, I got a notice that my building is being sold to an LLC. Which means my rent is going to go up a lot. Because best case, the LLC is going to use a computer program that will say to increase my rent because IT ALWAYS MUST. It will never say it's more profitable to lower rent and fill units and raise rents later because bigger number is easier to understand than bigger number over time. Worse case they evict everyone and build a new luxury apartment building...
SIGH...
But you know what! I'm going to try to stay optimistic. I'm applying elsewhere. I'm keeping my feelers out there and asking people where I can go in the worst case scenario. I'm trying to do more original writing and I'm trying to engage people more. If I can get a big enough buffer, a friend's recommended places I can start publicly posting it. If you've been seeing votes for Isekai, that's the one I'm playing with ATM. I might also tear down noir, do a rewrite, finish, and try an e-publishing. I'm not giving up just yet, damnit.
