Oh Imma Keep Feeding YOU This Month!

What would you like to ask STEVEN ERIKSON?!

Leave your questions in the comments below and like the ones you want to see me ask.

i'd love to hear specifics on how he goes about word choice, if there's a tendency or a loose "formula", when it comes to descriptions and action scenes and the like. also, his take on thesauri when the writing is going less than optimal.

How does he organize his world building? Is there any specific website or software that he uses? How did he go about organizing everything while he was initially creating the world?

What's his favorite part of writing in general?

How much has dnd influenced your writing beyond the first malazan Book?

Some have recognized Malazan as a Postmodern interpretation of the epic fantasy genre. This comes across in the way tropes, themes, and linearity is subverted in the series. Was this type of literary subversion intended or a consequence of some other group of influences?

What was his inspiration for the Holds, Houses, and Master of the Deck/Tiles? I find the idea that all the Acsendent beings being grouped/joined by certain aspects and concepts, that humans can then study/understand very fascinating.

Ask him how he prevents burn out and being overwhelmed by the depth of this gargantuan series

Oh man, so many questions: how he keeps track of the world and every detail in it (what system has he developed). At which point did he and Mr. Esslemont develop the whole Kharkanas backstory; apart from his critisism of capitalism (Lether) - which concept did he for himself originally want to explore; where is he going to take us beyond Witness and Kharkanas 3; which characters were developed last minute or in the last draft; how many drafts does he usually write, apart from the first book; how does his writing process look like in general terms; what would he recommend to young fantasy authors with regards to writing/ publishing? Thank you so much!! I am so excited. :) One last thing: with the story being as complex as it is, a visual adaptation seems quite the challenge...a friend of mine and I always dreamt of a Malazan animated series (maybe Kickstarter-funded). Have Erickson and Esslemont ever thought oft visualizing the series? (Gardens of the Moon, originally was a script, as far as I've read it).

How he came up with hot and cold iron.

I would like to know how malazan went from a homebrew campaign setting to what it currently is and what the process of converting that from table top to movie script to book was like. Also about his world building in general
