Towers Of Midnight Summary!

We are at the penultimate title! Can you dig it?!?!?!

Comments

There is a bit more importance put on the Perrin playing with the wolves. When he catches the animal, he tries to kill it in the dream world, but Hopper stops him. This is one of the important pieces that lets him fully embrace being a wolf brother, as he was blaming the battle rage/bloodthirst, that came over him, on being part wolf. But after this, he realizes that wolves aren't bloodthirsty at all. Sidenote: Shadowspawn can't go through the gateways, hence why Rand used "deathgates". A darkfriend ash'aman is letting them come through a portal stone during Perrins rescue of whitecloacks.

It has always been my opinion that when Noal reveals that he's Jain Farstrider, he ISN'T a Hero of the Horn at that point. He is a major folk hero that has one of the most popular books in the Westlands written about him, but he hasn't been bound to the Horn yet. The reveal in this book is like finding out the guy you've been hanging out with recently is really named James Bond. The stories about his life and the way he dies are what leads to him being made into a Hero, which is why his return in the next book is so impactful. IIRC, one of the heroes in the next book even says something like "once in a while, the Pattern sees fit to add to our numbers," while they're talking about Noal/Jain.

If i remember correctly, Setella Anan (who yes, was taking of Olver), is the Aes Sedai that was studying all of the girls Ter’angreal and ended up burning herself out in the process. Nynaeve attempted to heal her but burning out doesn’t leave that “bridge” to heal.

Liesel Towne

Hell to the no. :) I’m working on it right now and you’ll be getting it Tuesday as long as all goes to plan.

Daniel Greene

noticed you have released the summary of the series to YOUTUBE. Does that mean you will skip MEMORY OF LIGHT?

Carol Briscoe

Dear lord these summaries made me realize these final books are SO good. And so is your summary series! Reliving the complete WoT story with these videos has been a absolute blast and I REALLY appreciate all the time and effort you have both put into this. Thank you!

Bas

Will there by any chance be a post-summary video what explains some continuing lore, explains mysteries(like who killed asmodean), give answers that might not be easy to pick up, where to find more information and communities? Basically wait a week or two and take note of what people on youtube say the first 11 books. It could also go over some things what might have been missed or unclear during these summaries. would love to see a post analysis like that at the end of part2, like i've been enjoying all of these releases. doing a fantastic job, both of you. -G

The sound effects for throwing items at the Gholam 😂

Dan Wagner

is there any way we could add scrolling text to the portions of Daniel reading directly from the books? I think it would make those segments much more engaging.

Bryan

Epic!

Phil Parkman

"...but I'm an American." 💀😂😭

Perrin’s struggle to accept being a Lord was a very dragged out plotline, true to his character, but frustrating as a reader. I can only imagine how frustrating it was for the people trying to follow him XD Galad and Berelain’s ‘romance’ was…something. Definitely could have found ways to enhance it better. Could have had her sent over to negotiate and actually give them some one-on-one time to talk. Slayer killing the wolves forever was peak evil. Rand’s chosen one arc was so good, the darkness building over the books to culminate in this fight, just beautiful! *chef’s kiss* to Robert Jordan. Perrin’s series long battle with the Whitecloaks was such a big part of his story and how he felt about himself, I was so mad at how they handled it in the show. The way the show handled it, if they had reached his judgement it would have to have been handled very differently and I don’t think it could have been done as well or with the same logical explanations. Hopper was the goodest boy to ever good! Ooph, hearing it read out loud is a gut punch, I’m in genuine emotional pain, well done! Forging of Mah'alleinir was also a top tier scene. And the rescuing of the Whitecloaks was fantastic. I so wish that we could have had a scene of all 3 boys back together! Mat and Perrin’s reunion was so wholesome! The woman who spoke with Aviendha was called Nakomi and it was the pillars she went through, the rings are for a woman’s first trip. Aviendha did go and see the past, she was just very underwhelmed by it. While she was ruminating on the purpose of the pillars they drew her and she tried to ‘read’ them, and she got enticed to step through again and her second pass through it what caused her future visions. I found it so hypocritical that Egwene was all for making Elayne and Nyneave do the test, but not herself. She also seemed kind of fine with not pulling Faolain and Theodrin back to do theirs. And Nyneave’s test was so brutal, I loved how she voiced her thoughts on how Aes Sedai were blindly loyal to the Tower and the idea of ‘serenity’ and how that was detrimental. I dislike Egwene’s thoughts on how she worries about Nynaeve and Elayne being more loyal to Rand than her. It was Lopin who the gholam killed, very sad as he used to be Nalesean’s manservant, but the gholam killed Nalesean back in Ebou Dar. Also it was technically sweet buns, not honey cakes that he gave to Joline. Mat’s letter to Elayne was horrible, Mat has written before and was not illiterate, this was just a very poor attempt at making him look stupid for comedy. It’s iron to bind, not steel for the Tower of Ghenji. And Gaidal is currently reborn, he was just before Birgitte got ripped into the world. One of her melancholy points was that he wouldn’t recognise her as he is always older when they are spun out, but this time she’s a full woman and he’s just a baby. Lan’s acceptance of leading the Borderlanders was a beautiful moment. That soft “The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don.” And how it was taken up, just stunning. Sorry about all my really long comments, Wheel of Time is my favourite series and I don’t get to discus it often XD

I got chills as you were speaking of Perrin's witnessing Rand on DragonMount. Then again when Rand started healing the land and the food. At the end of S3, E8, in a voice over, Moraine speaks of the Dragon Reborn being of the Earth. "The Land iks one with the Dragon Reborn, and he is one with the Land. Mountains kneel, Seas give way and the sky bows. Pray He remembers LOVE. " Absolutely loved how you used LOTR, The Two Towers battle at the Hornburg for depicting Lan's group at Tarwins Gap. Brilliant work. Anticipating the final video.

Carol Briscoe

I second that request. Please Daniel, you must also review NEW SPRING

Carol Briscoe

Im fairly certain that the the metal used in the tower is iron, not steel. "Iron to bind". Iron daggers, iron chains, iron dust.

Danny Andrews

Great video, thanks! But also, aren't you going to do the New Spring too?

Ejder

Yes, I think it was this way. She was like "I know this already, show me something useful"

Ejder

Isn't there a scene in the matrix where neo flexes the air around him? Could be fun to add that when talking about Rand.

Joel Haker

Chills....so good........I NEED THE LAST ONE SO BAD!

Patrick Minze

The last charge of the Golden Crane edited with the scenes from LotR is pure genius. That moment has never felt so vivid across both my rereads. Masterpiece!

Václav Šmach

My headcannon for the oddness of Aviendha's children is because she conceived after the end of the series. IYKYK

Jason the Dave

Didn't Avienda go through the rings like normal but was unmoved because she already knew, but them went through again and it showed her the future? Am I making that up? I probably need to reread.

Jason the Dave

The overkill line on the achievement is so... rude. Well done. I laughed as the tears ran. Such an incredible plot line.

Blake Engholm

Love that you have the cover(s) on the intro! that helps a lot to keep them separated and not bluring together in your mind ball
