Up until this point, HP in Gaspare Empire has simply been a standard HP mechanic in terms of its identity; red hearts refill health, and you can find pieces of hearts as a way of increasing your total HP.
I've changed this to now be something that fits the game thematically! HP is basically now EGO. Broken Hearts (basically Pieces of Heart from the Zelda series, as mentioned above) have been replaced with "Liquid Ego", which you can see in the attached image. These are bottles of literal liquid ego, and if you get 5 of them, you fill up an "Ego Container", which grants you an extra permanent HP! This now fits thematically together with the Ego Meter mechanic, where a meter will fill up as you defeat enemies, which heals you 1 HP when it fully fills up.
This also means, when you run out of HP in this game, Gaspare doesn't actually die - he just gets knocked out as his ego takes a big hit...!
