WIP #04 - Side Project

Side Project:

This will be one of 2 major WIP post this month where I will discuss in more detail what kind of projects will come. (The 2nd WIP project is "Staying The Night 2", where I'll tell you a bit more about what's coming).

The "Side Project" is about a visual novel game. As you might have seen I have been working on a visual novel before. If you are interested you can download and play "Dexna 0.4".

As you can see, I worked with Renpy, there are other programs but I think Renpy is the best for this. I have gained a lot of experience with the game, how to include sound effects and other special effects. I would like to include something similar in this game as well.

Animations:

For this game I wanted to add micro animations compared to "Dexna 0.4". This means that the images in the game would move slightly, like winking eyes or breathing or speaking movements. For the sex pictures I thought about using micro animations or maybe a real animation as a video loop. (I am still trying out the animation function of the software).

I'm not sure if it's called micro animation, but i mean that i make an animation with 3-4 frames, not like a real animation that has 30-60 frames per second.

Audio:

Whether I add audio is a good question, I think I will add effects like the door opening and moaning. But if I would add real voices to the girls I don't know yet, I think I will do a survey about that.

My thoughts are, if I give the girls voice, that there might be people who might not like it. In any case I will add an option to mute the voices.

If the survey is positive that you would like to get a voice, i will collect some demos of voice artists and introduce them to you, so that we can find a suitable voice for the girls together. (But that's still a while until I'm ready, by then you'll probably have a playable version in your hands).

Script / Code:

I've coded in Renpy before, so I won't have any problems to create a working game. I will take the code from "Dexna 0.4" with other pictures and another FONT. I will also change the menu. That means i won't spend a lot of hours with code and can concentrate on the pictures.

I have created a preview, with an image and text as an example of what it might look like.

Dexna 0.4:

As you might have noticed the project is paused because not enough people were interested in it, I don't know if I will finish it at a later point.

Since I was still interested in a visual novel, I thought I would do a visual novel with Delphi, Jessy and the other girls this time. I think the interest would be bigger than for an "Alien" Visual Novel.

Side Project:

My focus will definitely be on "Staying The Night 2", which means I will work on the visual novel in between and will keep you up to date with WIP pictures.

Survey:

As you noticed, I've added a poll to this post. I would like to hear what you think about this idea.

Option 1:

I like the idea of a visual novel and look forward to it.

Option 2:

Because the game is made of pictures, it would be possible to fill the pictures with speech bubbles and make a comic version of the Visual Novel at a later point in time.

Option 3:

If you are not interested in Visuel Novels at all, you are welcome to choose this option. This would show me how much you like or dislike this idea. But if you are open for a visual novel you can also choose option 2 & 3.

(If option 3 gets a lot of votes and option 1 & 2 is close to 0 I will pause the Visual Novel and convert it directly into a comic.)
