I’ve done many shoots with Sass-Kia over the years and this was the first shoot we ever did, back in May 2017. It contains the best images of this genre that I’ve made with her, all on film - lovingly hand processed in the sink at home, scanned and edited by me - homemade and home-crafted in other words.
The shoot was in the Shakespeare Hotel in Sydney, a place where I used to regularly shoot for one reason, the light. I knew each room there like the back of my hand as far as light goes. I notice now that many photographers go there :) I shot 8 rolls of 120 film on the Pentax 67 with Sass-Kia, both B&W and colour. Some of the images in the set I’ve left unedited, they have a particular appeal for me when they’re straight off the scanner - there is something beautifully fresh and magical about them.
I look back on these images with feeling of both nostalgia and pride. I hope you like them too.
