I can never get into fiction and fantasy books in general. I tried reading "The Way of Kings", but that was too big of a task for me. Granted it is over 1000+ pages, but maybe the Hobbit is an easier read? I'm not much of a book worm, but i'd like to be

The book is so much better but I enjoyed these movies. Glad to see that you are enjoying them as well.

In other words, for Lord of The Rings their problem was what to cut from 1200 pages of material.
For The Hobbit they had to figure how to make another LoTR grand epic out of 300 page children's book

This is "The Hobbit". Not "The Lord of the Rings" or its Appendices. It really didn't need to become another trilogy, but again, mainstream Hollywood is about profits. And entertainment value is of course subjective.

The other trilogy was three movies based on three books. This is three movies from one book.

I still love this trilogy very much. A lot of the added scenes did happen during this time with the council and Dol Guldor I will never understand people that complain about it. But i also read the Lord of the Rings first and the Appendices so when i read the Hobbit i imaging it like this movie.

I just like the first act, because it's closest to the book. The "White Orc", Radagast, Galadriel and Saruman were NOT in "The Hobbit" book. They were added for this new film trilogy. 🙄

Awesome. The hobbit movies got a fair bit of negativity but I’ve always enjoyed them! Given the fact there were lots of problems with production, different directors taking over etc I always felt they did a good job with it! And totally agree there’s no place like middle earth for escapism!
It’s worth mentioning that the hobbit homeland we see in the movies is a real place that was built for the films . It’s open for tourists to look around if any of you find yourself in New Zealand it’s well worth a visit 😊
