First of all, yes, you can record directly inside Resolume, and over the years, this tool has gotten better. However, the performance is not the best, and from my experience, it drops too many frames. You can test this by activating the record window: VIEW > SHOW RECORD.
It is crucial for me to record Resolume output in the best quality and performance at 60fps without dropping frames. Over the last few years, I have figured out that this is my favorite workflow:
RESOLUME > SPOUT > OBS > MP4
I use Spout to send the Resolume output to OBS, where I record it in MP4 (H.264) at a high bitrate on a fast SSD. My current setup includes a Samsung EVO PRO 980. Itβs also beneficial to have an NVIDIA GPU, as it enables hardware encoding for MP4.
Spout leverages your graphics card, allowing you to send real-time video between Windows applications with near-zero latency or overhead. If you want to learn more, check it out here: https://spout.zeal.co
The setup is simple, and you only need to do it once!
This tutorial is for WINDOWS only. On Mac, you will need Syphon or NDI instead of Spout.

1. INSTALL OBS and Spout
OBS (the newses version works

OBS_Spout2_Plugin_Install_v1.8.exe

2 ACIVATE SPOUT in RESOLUME

3 START OBS and add a SOURCE

4 SELECT Spout2 Capture

5 SELECT Arena Composition

6 GOTO SETTINGS

7 VIDEO and SET BASE CANVAS to match your RESOLUME RESOLUTION
and SELECT FRAMERATE

8 OUTPUT SETTINGS
select OUTPUT Mode: ADVANCED
select RECORDING and change these Settings
Recording Path on a fast SSD or M.2 (I am using a Samsung EVO PRO 980)
h264 for faster encoding and better perfomance.
Enable Rescale Output and increase the resolution ! if you outputing 1920x1080 set it to 2560x1440 or 4k. I am always outputting from Resolume in 2560x1440 so I will set it to 3840x2160.
set higher bitrate 40-80Mbit depending on your resolution

9 START RECORDING
When recording for the first time, check the FPS in Resolume. If it's lagging too much, try these solutions:
Disable Rescale Output in the video settings
Upgrade to a better NVIDIA GPU
Use a faster SSD
enjoy !
