Better Call Saul 3x5 Uncut Reaction

Comments

My first watch I also thought of Huell, maybe because I was waiting for every character to show up eventually

Minerva Ravenclaw

Asked for someone with a “light touch” = skilled pickpocket Asking if he needs to be in a tight space and Jimmy relying no= fat Huell was a fat skilled pickpocket in Breaking Bad. It was a good guess but it’s hardly rocket science

Josh Gibson

don't forget that when Jimmy moved out to NM to live and work in the mailroom he was on the straight and narrow. Doing things right. Hard working as said by Howard many times. Got a law degree and passed the bar without telling anyone. Slippin Jimmy was left in Cicero. Had Chuck hired him at HHM and properly mentored him he probably would've stayed that way...Jimmy resorts to Slippin Jimmy because Chuck knocked him off the wagon by constantly kicking him down for past transgressions. so self righteous about him and him being a lawyer....How can anyone leave their past behind and move forward? by getting support from their loved ones, not constantly having it thrown in your face.

Guy-on-Couch

Chuck ruined his own reputation by stating how he could play up the effects of his illness to get a rise out of Jimmy and then was able to not sense that there was a battery in his pocket, even though he claims his illness is physical.

Lyn Hurst

Great episode. Chuck was unhinged, Jimmy hit below the belt bringing Rebecca into it. I see these one upmanships of assholery between the brothers being consistent with the Breaking Bad universe. One character seems all good, then they mess up, another character seems all good, then they mess up. and commit crimes or other morally questionable acts. Although Jimmy has been kind to Chuck as far as taking care of him when he has his "episodes," this episode exposed how Chuck is able to manipulate his illness to use it as a weapon to get back at Jimmy. By garnering his sympathy for Chuck when Jimmy felt he took a turn for the worse due to his thinking that he messed up the Mesa Verde documents. Jimmy made it sound as if he was attempting to make Chuck feel better by saying he did change the numbers. I liked that Chuck's ruse with Rebecca when they were at his house for dinner was to use transposed address numbers to show how the power company supposedly mixed up the addresses of the people not paying with his. I loved the courtroom scene. I watch a lawyer Youtuber who evaluated it and said it is pretty much up there in accuracy with a few exceptions such as allowing Chuck to go on and on after he has answered a question. One of Kim's objections in the beginning was bypassed, but she didn't state the reason for an objection. Despite how bad Chuck looks in this situation, he was not the defendant and the proceeding was not against him therefore he could not be held to some of the things Jimmy brought up. Chuck clearly has a mental illness as any physical illness would have caused the things he claims he experiences but he is able to turn it on and off as depicted.

Lyn Hurst

he got that idiot at the copy shop to lie for him 💀💀💀💀💀💀

micah

What's really cool is that he is portrayed as an antagonist to the main character but really he's just a flawed victim in all this! Such great writing.

AlrightThere

Honestly they are both very flawed characters. There's not really a right or wrong between them their relationship is complex. Its like that for many people in life. If you look at it from a subjective point of view though then yes Jimmy is the bad guy and Chuck is the victim. Imagine seeing this case only from the court perspective if you've never met either character. You'd think its just a clash between two brothers where one overstepped the line and not much else.

AlrightThere

Hes an amazing actor he did such a good job as Chuck. Glad you mentioned this! I really felt the emotions in his speech. It's one of those after when the room is quiet you could almost cry.

AlrightThere

Its obvious this show will highlight some of the minor characters from Breaking Bad so it completely makes sense. If you think about it Mike in Breaking Bad was nowhere near as focused on than in Better Call Saul. He was Howard level at best. It was a great well rounded guess + Huell is a very memorable character.

AlrightThere

Jesus Christ relax. It was a good guess by them but it was by no means “fishy” smfh

Sean van Hengel

I totally predicted it first time round the “tight spaces’ comment and the fact we already know Huell is good at the sleight of hand stuff Jimmy was asking for

Duncan

true true

CpaSpartan Pudgey

just made sense. we've met many characters, even several minor ones. so Saul looking for a guy to do some dirty work for him, than isn't Mike, just rang those bells 😝

CpaSpartan Pudgey

I'm not saying Chuck is a saint and did nothing wrong, but Jimmy did do what he was accused of. He is guilty. He knew the consequences when he did what he did. Instead of facing those consequences, he used his brothers mental illness to make it look like Chuck has an irrational vendetta against Jimmy. And Chuck doesn't hate his brother for no reason. There were plenty of things showed in the previous episodes that fueled that hate. Should he hate his brother? Probably not, but you can't say he doesn't have reasons. Anyways, justice for Chuck!

Duder03

I'm skeptical. Huell was a minor character in Breaking Bad. How and why would anyone think that Huell would be making a surprise debut on this episode? Something's fishy... :)

N M

Think one part you guys may have missed is that the “friend” who referred Jimmy to the vet was Mike. So he wouldn’t be going to the vet to hire Mike, when Mike was the one that referred him there

Sean van Hengel

this is one of my favorite episodes of the series and Chuck's unhinged monologue is incredible...2.5 season of conflict between Jimmy and Chuck, you see their past, etc. etc. we all know Chuck hates Jimmy but here the characters get to see Chuck for what he really is, Mentally ill and a spiteful, vindictive, hateful asshole...The look on Howard's face says it all....Love Howard in this episode too...say what you want about how much of a pompous douche Howard it but he is honest and has always gave credit where it was deserved. If Chuck wasn't like the way he was, he would have gotten hired at HHM and none of this probably ever happens because Jimmy probably would've wanted to keep getting Chuck's approval...Once the tape was made, jimmy finally realized after everything that Chuck would never give him what he was after....The asshole never even told Jimmy his Mother called out his name before dying...That's cold as ice

Guy-on-Couch

Naaah Jimmy was pretty much pushed into a corner here. He had no other possible moves other than to destroy Chuck's credibility for the charges to fall through. You can even tell that Jimmy felt terrible as it was happening, but he had no other choice.

Pablo

Can we take a moment to acknowledge what an outstanding job Michael McKean did this episode? He executed the writing so well through his performance. He's full of pride, but also bitterness, jealousy, and pain, and you can see it on his face through the microexpressions. Honestly this is right up there with Colonel Jessup's meltdown in A Few Good Men.

Arthur

javinator moment

big harsher

What a sick JOKE!!!

david p

Highly disagree. Chuck is a bigger POS for practically hating his brother “since he was 9”, always expecting the worst out of him and enjoying keeping Jimmy under his thumb due to his sick superiority complex even after Jimmy tried turning his life around and spent years catering to his mental illness without ever questioning it or allowing anyone else to even call it for what it is until Chuck finally forced his hand. Yeah Jimmy did illegal things but you don’t do what Chuck did to “family”. Chuck couldn’t accept the idea of people thinking he was wrong so he brought this on himself and destroyed his relationship with his only brother in the process.

Jonny Rey

Jimmy had every right to defend himself. Chuck's actions against Jimmy, his deep seeded resentment, his jealousy and mental illness is what destroyed his reputation. Instead of sabotaging his own brother, he should've just cut Jimmy out of his life completely and not lower himself with his vendetta. He exposed himself and that's on him. It's really tough...and sad.

Joe Lazarus

I know you guys love Jimmy, but he's such a piece of shit for what he did to Chuck in this episode. lol. Can you imagine using your family member's mental illness to get what you want? While at the same time, ruining his reputation. That's tough!

Duder03

Remember when Jimmy went to the vet and asked for someone with a "light touch." This was just before the vet referenced a tight fit. The meaning of light touch includes someone who is a good pickpocket.

Dónde está la biblioteca

One of the best episodes of the show imo. This one is fantastic

Pogger White

Spartan was on point this episode

Vhaxem

Not our precious Jimmy!

Vhaxem

Used to hate him so much during my first watch🤣 but on my second watchI do appreciate him,a lot, as a character!

Minerva Ravenclaw

I know right? I might even like him more than Walter, Jimmy or Kim which are my other favorites. Not that I like him as a person but his character is so fucking well written it's insane. He is such a great antagonist.

Pablo

Chuck's character is really super well written

Minerva Ravenclaw

Finally we get to one of the greatest episodes in tv history

Josh Gibson

You think this is bad? This? This chicanery?

Pablo

Let’s gooo!
