Happy New Year Everyone!

Another year is coming to an end and a new chapter in our lives begins.

You've all been very supportive and motivating since I started making Lycoris, and I really appreciate it. Thank you!

Today I want to share a little bit about how this game came to be…

To be honest, my intent was to create a turn base RPG like Utawarerumono or even something like SMTs games using Unreal Engine, but as someone who at that time, just finished his college and always focused his life toward art, programming was not my forte to put it lightly.

I still lacked a lot of experience and was quite shocked about how difficult game creation is. I spoke with my old friend, who was familiar with Itch site and he suggested me to try HS2 and Renpy as my starting point. My friend knows me quite well as he said that this will still be challenging not because it requires some level of programming, but because of my views…

-About my views…

I have been drawing naked bodies for years as a student and we were taught to see them as a work of art, something to admire and not to lust for.

For me, “Seggs” is a mean to bound people, to show the highest form of connection. It is true that many do not agree with this view and I'm not the one to judge them. Everyone thinks differently and I cannot claim that my way of thinking is correct, but still, I decided to make this particular game a story-driven visual novel not focusing on “Seggs” although many wished it to be otherwise.

So, after I got familiar with HS2 (I actually never played it, only used the creation tool) and Renpy, I decided to give it a try. Since I was new to many things and the lack of knowledge gave me a difficult time, there were many times I had considered giving up on this idea, but ultimately, I managed to finish the original Lycoris and publish it on Itch.

Only after a couple of months I realized how bad it was, many character were lacking personality, the story had many plot holes and the overall look was not something to be proud of. Therefore, I came to a conclusion that this game needs to be remade.

I started improving myself, taking English courses, learning on how I should properly write the story and make my characters interesting, spending a lot, let me repeat that, a LOT of time inside HS2 and Studio Neo to learn how I can make this game look better and more engaging. This process was not something I would like to go through again but it was necessary, and I am deeply grateful to my patreons who supported me through all the months I spent on remake.

Right now, this game has become very dear to me… very special.

It may take me a long time to finish this story (Believe me, this will not be a short one) and In order to ensure that this game is worthwhile playing and remembering, I will give my best effort to improve further.

For all of you, I'm very grateful for your support and for showing me that people are willing to follow my work for the reasons I wished them to. THANK YOU!

I hope this New Year brings you all something new, something good… our life is short and we should enjoy every moment of it.
