The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 7 Live Reaction (FULL)

we are inching closer to Jinshi being revealed to MaoMao and after this episode it seems they really support her entering the royal family 👀

it's interesting though as both Jinshi and Maomao struggle to accept their true parentage

Also at face value, Jinshi is being presented as the emperors brother making him first in line should something happen to him before he has a son, but in actuality, he is the emperor's biological son but hidden from this fact from the public

I feel the same way, but I don't know if the current emperor realized he presented as Jinshi's father? Just said that Jinshi thought he was. He may have been too young to grasp all the subtleties. Honestly, I am not sure if Jinshi is sure what the real truth is. Maybe no one told him. There are a lot of theories in the story, but they present them as hypotheticals. People are using circumstantial evidence, but no one who knows for certain, who was there, has said anything we can sure about. (This story likes to put out stories as truth that turn out later to be lies, false beliefs, rumors, self-denigration, like what we believed about Lakan from his own words.) ...... I think Jinshi just wants the emperor to go ahead and please have a male heir so he can get out of this political quagmire and live the life he wants to. He is certainly doing his best to make sure it happens.

Jinshi’s heritage is potentially such a political mess that I wonder if the actual truth will ever be exposed to the public. If we take Maomao’s conjectures in season 1 about former Consort Ah-Duo seriously then Jinshi is biologically the eldest son of hers with the current emperor. This episode, he even mentioned that the current emperor, politically his brother, acted like he’s his father lol But because he was swapped with the current emperor’s brother at birth, he’s now politically the Imperial Brother instead of his heir to the throne. So when the characters in this show act like they’re in the know about his “true” identity, do they mean the Imperial Brother stasus or his status as the hidden heir? Does Jinshi even know? My head spins…

First time I actually had a clue what was going on. But when the old man was warning the emperor, then seemed to repeat it especially for Jinshi, I thought that it was about Jinshi and his ancestry. The beginning of the episode, Jinshi's dream, seems to support that idea. You made me think it might be about Maomao. And who are these people who might not like the introduction of outside blood? Could this be the motive for the attack on Jinshi? But are the same people or motives responsible for the attacks on the emperor's babies? If these people know about the switch, if it really happened, or even if it's a rumor, it is more likely the attacks are connected.
