Hi guys!
So, an update on what I've been up to. Aside from getting the STL's wrapped up (stair piece incoming, test printing now!) and the endless admin that seems to come of running a channel and contacting companies for perks for you guys (again, more incoming!) I've been working on tiles and jigs :)
Tiles first, because they've annoyed me less ๐ These are simple half inch versions of the magnetic floor tiles with nickel strips, with the magnets placed in the same way as the half wood tiles in the scaffold and balconies video.

There are some slight differences though. I placed nickel strip across the whole piece this time, mainly so when they are used as the walkways of sewers (their intended purpose!) a large creature like an ogre (or otyugh) can be magnetically attached to the tile, and sit securely rather than hovering precariously over the edge...

I also edited the 'grid' pattern to be purely along the length of the piece - this was because splitting the grid in half, frankly, looked obvious and sillier. this method allows you to measure the grid along the length of the walkway/corridor, without...well, looking silly ๐ when attached together as 'spare' 3" pieces, you can still use it as a 9 point grid by placing models along the central line - it still works :)
Its also the first floor piece I've used the new texture roller on, other than the temple blocks, so that'll be interesting when painting. Its definitely added more of a weathered, worn look...
JIGS!
So as you can see, I've been designing jigs (personally, with my limited skill, so these are all available to all patrons - I didn't have to pay to get them made!)
These are for the sloped pieces, to make life easier for you guys rather than measuring and cutting in more advanced ways that I know some of you (particularly newer people) are uncomfortable with :) This should speed things up a little, but more importantly make it a LOT easier.
It did however, take me several test versions, repeated redesigns and constant frustration over several days (While doing other things) - so it wasn't faster for me ๐ I'm just hoping it proves useful to plenty of you guys!

As you can see, they make pristine precision cuts with minimal effort, and should enable us to get those pieces ready to use in record time. If you guys like them, please let me know, because I can work on more in future for other angled pieces that some find challenging, like the roof tiles :)
Finally, myself and (mostly) Faye have been working to get an unholy mountain of foam shapes cut for use in the project...

I have big plans...
Beyond that, I'm aiming to complete myminifactory uploads today, get more jigs off the 3d printer/set more away, and finish up those half-floor tiles ready for painting :)
I also have another tool brewing in the 3d sculpting pot, that should enable us to make a lot of tiles, a lot faster. I'll say no more for now in case it doesn't work ๐ but I'm excited!
Oh, and it's my birthday this week, so I'm taking a day off. I don't do that often ๐
Catch you all soon!
