Meguido and His “Crimson Flames”

Hello everyone!

After so much time I’m back here again, but this time I’m writing directly from Versus X’s PC.

So as he already mentioned a while back, my HDD died but because I have no trust in my PC I had to make sure that the problem was just the HDD and not any other component making the HDD to die. So just bought a 250gb SSD to make some tests on it.

Installed the SO along with the majority of software I use. There’s still some more programs to install but they require a lot more free space. But after I did the tests and decided to get a new (and bigger) HDD the odyssey started. Tried to get any advantages during the BF but then got no luck with the stores disabling PayPal as a payment method… Had to wait until the day next to Cyber Monday expecting to see PayPal added back again just to find that it is not.

Had to make a debit card and try to get it via Amazon just to find that with taxes added that price was a madness. So ended up purchasing it from another store using that card and the estimated delivery is Monday, December 4th. So hopefully I’ll be fully back on Tuesday, Dec. 5th.

The last time I was able to make progress on Bioasshard before the dead of the HDD, I managed to get only one sex anim left. So that’s the first thing I’ll be doing when get the new HDD installed and ready. After that I’ll be implementing them in engine. And I’ll be making a proper Meguido’s Report with new info on Bioasshard (and probably on Chains of Destiny but not sure).

And now it’s time to my ‘rant?’ Dunno If that can be called this way this time. Anyway, I’ll be calling it my Crimson Flames lol. I think this I’m going to write deserves to be explained because maybe there’s more people out there misunderstanding this the same way.

The Sad Story Of A Person That Could Not Understand The Use Of A Poll

(Look, a new Patron...)

(So we sent him his reward...)

(A few hours later we got this questions...)

I think it was made clear to any reader that the poll was to gauge the interest in our projects. In the projects we’re currently making or will make in the future. The poll is not to see which game you liked the most that would be nonsense.

(In any case we explained it again personally to him...)

(But...)

"Now I know why you are so low on Patreons." And now this… So after two days you know why we’re so low on Patrons. Why on earth you gonna take your time to see what we’ve already done and what we’re planning to do. Without even understanding the meaning of a poll you have now the key of our non-success.

"You want that people pay much money for a Game they dont know." But oh wait… We want people to pay much money? Wait what? Seriously this is not my type of thing. I don’t like making this kind of posts based on non-sense (supposedly) feedback but this deserved it.

"My hint on you is, focus on 1 Game and make it in episodes that a fan can pat on gour game." So we’ve been almost two years working on Punished Mai, releasing it per chapters and finishing it. We even had times where we had lower support than now. With the patreon focused entirely on Punished Mai. After that we started with RPG Ero-Adventures, releasing it as versions (can’t be considered as chapters because of the content quantity). Then just a few days ago we changed our Patreon to a multi-project one. The post about that is just a bit below, you could take just a lil bit of your time to read it. And now you come to give us that hint? Really? Are you sure about that?

Just to put an example: Kaliyo.

They started in a similar road as us with just a game, or rather its core: Roundscape. They’re now working on a total of 4 projects. With a minimum tier pledge of 10$.

Differences? The support the receive (that one is a hell of a difference lol) and that we have a lower starting tier pledge. Meaning that apart from Punished Mai that required a minimum pledge of 10$ to get it, all of our Main projects can be get (when released) at the 1$ tier.

Of course we had the option to make it the other way around and keep this Patreon focused in just one project and make a different Patreon for every project just like HentaiWritter did. But we preferred to make it this way.

Different options, both are valid, and we decided to take this route.

Now let’s get back to this once again:

“Games they don’t know”? Seriously I can’t get this. One of those “games they don’t know” is already finished and released, other got a few versions released, other one is constantly mentioned and showed in my reports. The other two along with the aforementioned got a profile with 3 screenshots and a brief description. I know it’s not a demo but still enough to give you an idea of it (and yeah I realize that works for a parody game like the FF but it’s a handicap for Chains of Destiny because that’s the only real unknown game we introduced in the poll).

“You have to much games” This can happen if you don’t even bother to read. More like Universes. Let’s put it simple: We have 5 universes. Every one of them have 1 game. 1 of them (Punished Mai) is already finished. 1 of them is already started with a few releases (RTP Ero-Adventures). So let’s say 4 games being made (same as Kaliyo just saying lol). They’re much? They’re variety. Apart from that I think that’s up to creators to decide how many games they wanna make.

“not on much they don’t interest” And here comes the best part. So we’re making the poll to gauge interest and you already know they don’t interest… Ignoring that. That's still stupid to say the least. What would change making many games nobody interest in or leaving just one of those games when it has no f*cking interest?

“I don’t pay some bucks for a game I dont know. I sorry but I m out wish you best of luck for your project” Thanks for wishing us luck. But sorry that’s the worst excuse to stop pledging. You didn’t have to say that excuse to stop your support on us. You stop it and that’s all. You came here, and I want to think it was because you read about our games somewhere. So you already knew about any of our games. You received the link to the latest release of RTP Ero-Adventures. Maybe you expected Punished Mai. But sorry for just 1$ you’re not going to get it.

With all this said, I wanna end saying this:

We’re not professionals, we’ve never been and we won’t ever be by how the things look like. We’ve been developing games not only since more than two years but the major part of our lives. We’ve learnt a lot of things during all this years, including that earning 200$ at most per month won’t allow to be a professional.

So please do not ask to two starved, working with 2 old and broken PCs working on their parent’s houses, to act as professionals.

As someone once said to us, we’re enthusiast. And that’s something we’re full of and never run out of: enthusiasm and passion for what we do.

Another thing we’ve learnt is that as much as the media say and how beautiful it can sound, with enthusiasm, passion, hard work, etc. not everyone can make a life out of it.

Yes, we’re not professional, but one thing we’re not for sure are liars or thieves. If we have many projects, it’s because we’re working on them. We won’t get your money and run. We won’t get your money to buy a piano and then create a drama to run out without making a thing. Or disappear while hundred acolytes are spending their money on us for doing nothing while all we make is delete negative comments so nobody notice the milking to keep it running forever.

We’re just two guys dreaming (and working for it) of making a life of what we like the most, making games. With one PC unusable and while one of us is recovering from surgery, we’re still here working, writing, answering, and keeping everyone updated as much as possible. Even when we’re not able to work directly on our projects, we keep thinking on them and how to make them better.

So please have more faith on us. And stop treating us like damn fools.

I’m going to stop there, because I’m not a cryer and someone could think this is what this is and it’s not. And I don’t like to act as a victim. So this is my good bye and see you in the next Meguido’s Report (if Versus X doesn’t fire me for saying all this lol).
