Bioasshard Dev Report

Here are some of the progress we’ve done during this time…

Stuff Done

I finally manage to finish all the necessary assets for the cloth damage system. It was +40 of black and white textures. Remember this screenshot Saturday?

What you can see in there is a superposition of the graphic side (what I’ve done) and the programming side of the cloth damage system (Meguido’s work).

I’ve also been working on some new UI graphics. Take a look:

This is part of those graphics and it will be for an unannounced new feature for the next release.

And we also have the door for the garden and the big lamp that we need for the new area. Unfortunately, I was unable to work on it during this past week.

Hello everyone!
I’ll keep this one briefly, since the last time I said I’d like to show something naughty, but unfortunately it won’t be this time ?. I’ll explain why:
Finally, the animNotify stuff is done! It’s been a nightmare to get all the animations full of them, but well, that’s over.
Next part was making all the logic behind those animations and all that bunch of notifies. This is where some things happened and it went wrong causing the Infected to start acting weird. At first, I decided to do the majority of “actions” (with “actions” I refer to one-time animations, not the loop-able ones) using animMontages as it’s the logical use for it. But then, after making countless animMontages and calling it done, I went to test it and, well… let’s say it was a mess. But what I found after looking for a solution is that it wasn’t the new logic’s fault, but the old one. So, the logic already in place for the previous releases (and the previous Infected) was really buggy. Funny thing is, I never found any problem back then (and looks like nobody else did either because there were no reports about it).
So, the time I should have taken making the last strong part of programming for the next release, I have to take it in fixing the Infected behavior bugs and changing its animMontages to common animations (known as animSequence) to try and make him have smoother transitions.
But at least I can say that is finally done too (that’s why the past ScreenshotSaturday was about Infected anims). Even tho the Infected is still a bit dumb, I’d say I’m pretty happy with how he behaves now (they won’t be as easy as the past releases XD).
Also implemented a fairly simple visible damage system for the Infected. I’d like to make something more complex with cool effects but that will require more time, a time I don’t want to spend for this release which is already taking too much.
So now, I’m fine-tuning some animations while focusing on the aforementioned “last strong part of programming”. You can guess what this is and thus why I couldn’t show you the naughty Julia ?
And that will make it for this time. I’d really like to bring you more info but this damn buggy AI system got me fucked for too many days, having to rework it, basically, from scratch.
Next time will be the time for the naughty Julia, I hope. Let’s believe on that.

The image above is the base drawing for a new CG set that will be released during next month. And I’m also preparing another CG set with a super old Tifa drawing that also will be released next mont.

Omnia In Unum

Meguido continues working on the assets for the game organizing them and updating their materials.

Meanwhile I’m working on some character designs. These are some of them: 4 important characters on the story (but they will only appear in one scene at the beginning), one of the main antagonists (a very sexy female), and two versions of another female character.

Unfortunately, I can’t show none of them for now…


QA Post

Well people, we want to do some kind of QA post during the next month so please leave your questions here on the comments below. It can be questions about whatever you want, projects, versus x studio, the future, even some personal questions but not too personal ? but try to avoid the ‘magical’ question: release date for Bioasshard or any other project.
