Inside, the place was bright and lively but something felt off. Her instincts told her something was wrong. With a polite smile, she said, “I just saw a souvenir stand! Be right back,” and slipped away.
In the shadows, someone was already waiting: the Circus Master. Firefly got into a ready stance but before she could react, a strange wave of energy hit her. Her vision blurred. Everything went black. She woke up, handcuffed to a soft couch. She was wary. Then a sudden jolt shook her, pulling her into a trance. When she opened her eyes again, her hands were painted white, fingers covered in bright gloves, big red nose. Her hair felt strange. She was wearing a clown outfit.
Panic surged… but so did an odd, happy feeling. Her mind felt light, playful, not her own. She tried to fight it but it was no use.
A wide, painted smile stretched across her face.
“Hehe… time for the show!”
Firefly was gone replaced by a cheerful clown ready to perform.
