Patreon changes

Hello all! It has been a hot couple of months! There's been some ruckus lately in the community due to the recent changes to billing Patreon is preparing. I wanted to be transparent with you about what changes and what doesn't, and how it may affect you.

1 - Subscription Billing

The Pay per Creation and Pay on the 1st models will both be discontinued in the very near future. This page being on their old "Pay on the 1st" model, it will have to change too. I decided to anticipate instead of waiting for the change to happen on its own. All three tiers will switch to Subscription Billing. It means that new patrons will still pay upfront when becoming a patron, but will only be renewed on the same day they joined on the next month, instead of the 1st of the month. Nothing changes if you are already a patron!

How it works, from Patreon own Support :

"If a creator has subscription billing enabled, members are billed when they join a creator’s membership and then on the same day of each month thereafter. For example, if a member joins on the 5th of a month, they’ll be billed on the 5th of each month thereafter.

However, if a member is being billed on the Nth day of each month but a subsequent month does not have N days in it, then the member is billed on the final day of that shorter month, and their billing day resets to that new day.

For example, if a member joins on March 31st, they’ll be billed again on April 30th and then the 30th of each month thereafter. If they reach February and that particular February has 29 days in it (because it’s a leap year), then they’ll be billed on February 29th and then on the 29th of each subsequent month. After a year of being billed on the 29th, that member would reach a February with only 28 days, and their billing day would reset to the 28th day of each month thereafter."

2 - Apple Fees

Subscriptions passed through the apple Store will be majorated an extra 30% by Patreon, STARTING IN NOVEMBER THIS YEAR. I do not profit from this increase and cannot change it in any way. To avoid paying this extra fee, you can simply avoid subbing from an Apple Device. For people using Apple Devices, you can still get my work and support me through other means. I'm setting up more and more shop fronts as time goes on. I'm mainly on Roll20 for now but you can also contact me directly if you want to buy a particular piece here or through Discord or Reddit. More news coming in the following months about this!

NB : Patreon promised neither of these changes would impact existing patrons in any way. If you are already a patron of mine and are debited the 1st of the month each month, this shall remain unchanged. Only future patrons will be affected and will be debited on the day of their initial sub, instead of the 1st, and then each month on the same day.

I know changes to billing are never optimal. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

~ Cheers, Eledryll
