I always wonder why dexter didn’t just say he was hanging on to it to try to sublet it out. They’re a married couple with 3 kids. He’s the only one working. It’s expensive in Miami. Surely the extra income would be helpful. That’s all he had to say. “I’m trying to sublet it for the income”. In fact he even briefly mentioned thinking about subletting in season 3. He doesn’t even have to try to… just say he is trying and not having any luck, if it were to get brought up. He did establish he was still under a lease anyway. At least that’s what I would have done. Would have been way more believable than paying for an entire waterfront apartment to keep a gun stored.
