More Housekeeping Notes

Everyone constantly tells me that I can do less, it's fine, I can take breaks, doing both low-level AND high-level creative work is hard, and I'm like yes but I'm different, I wrote and drew a webcomic for fifteen years! I have, though, cut back on my work hours in order to facilitate more time for rest... but I haven't cut back on responsibilities that I probably should and wondering why my decreased workload isn't giving me more flexibility.

One part of this is that I am medicated for a certain mental disorder that has a tendency to rear its head when I'm under stress, which doesn't really give me flex time to recover without feeling bad about it. Another part is that I need to hire more help but I haven't had a lot of luck with that given I can't, like, pay anyone full time or even part time, only gig work, and a majority of the work I do can't be offloaded (like, actually writing stuff and putting my art into it. That's what you pay me for!) and on top of that then I have to spend time managing rather than making stuff!

All this to say, I'm cutting back comic output to 1 page/week (to be posted Friday) I might do some more than that on occasion depending on mood and motivation, and it may change depending on if I can get more comic assistance again, but only expect 1/week for the time being.

Also, I'm calling a mulligan on the monthly sketches. I did not actually think through the implications of the theme I chose this month and I keep getting delayed until I started dreading it. That's not the way I'm supposed to do these things! I'm gonna return to end-of-month sketches this month (I'll try all-month sketches again next month), and if the new theme matches your submission from before, feel free to resubmit when the new post is made.

To make up for this I'm hoping that with more flex time I'll actually be able to post more little side projects and bonus art that has been sorely lacking the last few months. Hope to still see you around!

Find a rhythm and work balance that is good for you. Your fanbase isn't going anywhere, you're cherished quite a bit more than a random weekly porn fix.

I've enjoyed your work for years, take all of the time you need! You need time for yourself and to relax, your fans will understand! ❤️

Just wanted to say I’m so in support of resting more and glad you’re making the change in your work load. I know I’ve never commented but feels important to say so! I love your work SO much and also definitely want it to be something that’s good for you, not something taking away from your health.

What was the theme that's getting mulliganed?
