We're BACK! Thank you all so much for being so patient, understanding, and supportive as always! We're fully replinished from our break and ready to rock, as you can see from this beautiful new page! Leslie was firing on all cylinders for this one! I think you'll like where this scene goes~
During our little break, we returned to our favorite comfort character, our sweet lil' guy who never did anything wrong - Jason Vorhees. We finally watched Freddy vs Jason, the last movie in the franchise that we had yet to watch. And I gotta tell ya... We did not like it. At all. There's a few cool shots in the movie, but god damn, it's also just such an ugly ass movie to look at. We're just not Freddy fans, and Freddy is far less appealing if all of his cool dreamscape shit is done in CG. Jason also wasn't particularly great in this movie, and the additions to his "lore" were just really stupid. The whole movie is just sort of stupid and not in a fun Part VI or even Jason X kind of way. And god, the victims in this movie... Definitely a product of the edgy 2000s.
And so, I can finally finish my ranking of the movies, in order of worst to best. And it goes...
12 - Reboot
11 - Freddy vs Jason
10 - Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
9 - Jason Goes to Hell
8 - Part V: A New Beginning
7 - Part VII: The New Blood
6 - Part 3(D)
5 - Part II
4 - Friday the 13th
3 - Jason X
2 - Part VI: Jason Lives
1 - Part IV: The Final Chapter
Leslie's is pretty much the same, except swap VI and IV.
Can't believe we became such diehard Jasonheads in the last year. We were never really horror fans, but now we want to go seek out a bunch of other iconic horror movies. Might do Scream next, and we really want to check out Hellraiser and Child's Play. We loved The Thing, didn't care much for Halloween or Freddy, but I know there's more great stuff out there. Though I think Jason just hits all of our buttons in a way that few other things can. Like, you all read Track 15, you know we love writing characters getting naked in the woods. You've got that, plus a big scary dude hiding behind a hockey mask with just barely enough characterization and backstory so that you can sort of imprint your own idea of what Jason is. The whole series is just a fascinating little production. Kinda want to seek out the Crystal Lake Memory books... and maybe write some sort of one-off Slipshine story about skinny-dipping hippies and their big mask-wearing friend.
That's all for now, though! See you on Monday! Let's hope Summer Games Fest is good!
