In honor of Terry Bogard getting into Street Fighter, I decided I'd finally do it. I'd go through the entire Fatal Fury chronology. Before, I had only played Garou: Mark of the Wolves and a couple of King of Fighters entries. Not anymore, though! I've played and beaten them all! Which is my favorite, you ask? Why, it's Fatal Fury 3, thank you for asking! Fatal Fury 3 is really something special. It feels like the peak of everything SNK wanted to do in that game as far as a "cinematic" fighting game goes. The presentation is full of character, the story is simple and cheesy but backed by a frankly incredible localization job, the music is great, the stages set the bar for SNK's gorgeous spritework, the whole package just shines in a way that future SNK games wouldn't ever again, at least until Garou. If you're hyped about Terry Bogard but don't have time to play the whole series, I highly encourage that you at least track down and play Fatal Fury 3. You won't regret it.
I also tried to watch the Fatal Fury OVAs, but I accidentally started with the third. Even still, though... It's awful. Just absolute dogshit. It's 90s as hell with all of its boob jiggle and gender-neutral mile-long legs which is definitely charming, but it's just extremely boring and cheap. But at least it has Terry eating sushi with a fork.
