For this month's Classic Fantasy Illustration I'd like to share a Hi-Res scan of "How to Deal with a Sea Serpent," an ink and watercolor painting I did as a demo for Art of the Carolinas this past weekend! For this painting I used the Rackham/Dulac Method, which I detailed in the September Tutorial guide, using Higgins Inks and Turner watercolors on Arches Hot Press watercolor paper.
The painting was based off this drawing:

While at the show this weekend I got to meet the rep from Turner and bother them with a lot of questions about their line-up of pigments and what is behind some of their more specialized colors. I love their Maya line-up in particular; the blues and violets are just stunning and offer some really excellent granulation effects while also being non-staining and very easy to layer (something that can be harder to find for blues).
Overall it was a great demo and we had a lot of fun. We also got to meet a lot of you there which was awesome! Thank you to everyone who stopped by!
