Introducing the Hero Me Pro at RMRRF 2023 in April!

Over the past few years I have had many requests from patrons and other makers online, for me to create pre-printed kits of the Hero Me.

So you, my patrons, are the first to hear about my new kit. The Hero Me Pro.  (everyone else won't know about it until RMRRF 2023 mid April)

To make this possible, I needed to make the Hero Me easier to assemble. So, the Hero Me Pro base is front mounted to the Gantry Adapter on the printer’s X carriage. The Base is new, the Gantry Adapters are new, the Hotend Mounts are all new, and the Part Cooling ducts are updated.

I also needed to find partners who are the right fit. Companies that are able to consistently print high quality parts and are also aligned well to promote the Hero Me Pro.

To deliver the kits, I am very pleased to announce that pre-printed kits of the Hero Me Pro are now available for purchase online. I have partnered with two great 3D printer upgrade vendors to launch the Hero Me Pro.

3DFused.com in the US and 3DPrintingInEdmonton.com in Canada. Only approved vendors can offer the Hero Me Pro, and they will display the Hero Me Authorized Seller logo on their website (image in the deck above).

Each Hero Me Pro kit is custom ordered to match your specific 3D printer model and printhead components, including hotend, extruder, ABL sensor, and part cooling fans. Visit the sites above to order a Hero Me Pro kit.

All the kit’s parts are printed in ABS to enable printing high temperature filaments and/or in enclosed 3D printers. All the parts are pre-loaded with threaded inserts, and each kit has been assembly tested before it is shipped out. Each kit also includes all the hardware needed to assemble the Hero Me Pro with your printhead hardware (hotend, extruder, ABL, fans, etc.).

The Hero Me Pro is compatible with all the same 3D printers supported by the Hero Me Gen7, but these kits are targeted for high performance 3D printers. Think high flow hotends, high speed extruders, and the Hero Me Pro weighs less than 87grams. Supported hotends and extruders are listed at the Hero Me website linked below and in one of this Post's attached PDFs.

To kick off the release of the Hero Me Pro, my wife and I will be exhibiting at the upcoming Rocky Mountain Rep Rap Festival in Loveland Colorado on April 22nd & 23rd. This is the very first Western US Rep Rap Festival.

So if you live in the greater Denver area or beyond, I encourage you to come to RMRRF to see the Hero Me Pro in action or my other project the Prusa MUTANT, along with all the other 3D printing technologies being exhibited.

The Festival is free, and you can register at: rmrrf.com

The Hero Me Pro and Gen7 have a new website as well. To learn more about the Hero Me Pro, please visit my new website MerlinMedia.com. And if you are interested in a high quality printed kit of the Hero Me Pro please visit one of the partners above to order a Hero Me Pro.

So now you know why I have been hard to reach the past couple of months. With the Hero Me Pro now released to my patrons, this now frees up the majority of my time to now concentrate on answering your questions and making the Hero Me family better and better.

Attached to this post are two PDFs with more info as well.

Happy Printing,

Andy

The Speedy Ceramic Spider is now known as Creality Spider Pro 4 (name changed by Creality). The STL is: HMG7.3 Creality Spider 4 Pro Ceramic 2-Screw Mount V2.stl

Nate, In the latest Gen7.3.1 Zip found here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/hero-me-gen-7-3-81059728 Go to the Hotend Mounts folder, then the Hotends folder, and there you will find this STL: HMG7.3 Creality Spider Speedy Ceramic Mount.stl

Andrew Soderberg

does anyone know where the files are for the speedy spider hotend?

Nate Johnson

Brilliant! I'm in a bit of a bind. I got a new hotend, the old one doesnt really work, and I need a herome to mount the new one, and I cant print due to the old one being out of commission. Painted myself into a bit of a corner owning a ender neo max and buying a phaeton dragonfly.

Fredrich Legnemark

I am in talks with a couple of sources in Europe. I hope to have something in place in the next 6-8 weeks.

Andrew Soderberg

Do you have any approved vendors in europe? Shipping here is a wee bit expensive. Sometimes as expensive as the thing one orders from the american continent.

Fredrich Legnemark

Great, thanks! That would be a nice addition to the docs ;)

Cypher156

You got it! Below is a DropBox link to new versions of the Endoscope mount. One Tall and one Short. These will place the bottom of the mount and scope 1mm-4mm above the nozzle tip for most standard hotends (depending on how far your feed the camera into the mount). The Tall version is sized to work with hotends equivalent to an E3D V6 Volcano or taller (like the Phaetus Rapido Plus). Both work with most any fan shroud above it (including the Velocity Stack version). https://www.dropbox.com/s/xeromehtnl0zw28/HMG7.3%20Endoscope%20Mounts.zip?dl=0

Andrew Soderberg

It seems that the endoscope mount options reach to close to the bed to be able to be used with an NF-Crazy/Mosquito/Magnum hotend. Is it possible we could get a mount that's more low profile?

The MGN12-H Front Gantry Adapter for the Gen7 is designed for M3 Flat Head Cap screws so they sit flush with the back of the Gantry Adapter. You can't use Hex or button head M3 screws for those mount points. There is no STEP file for that Gantry Adapter as it was created in TinkerCAD, and that does not support the export of complex shapes as a STEP file. If you are referring to the Hero Me Pro front mount for an MGN12-H linear rail, that is a licensed product and the STEP and STLs files are not available at this time.

Andrew Soderberg

Answer repeated here for those who don't see the nested answer to the same question... I am now focused on finishing the Hero Me Magnet version, which is and will remain a patron exclusive. The Hero Me Pro is a licensed product only. The Hero Me Pro files are not available at this time. I believe that the Magnet version will be as effective as the Hero Me Pro, yet much more convenient for maintenance and other access needs. The Magnet Edition (a patron exclusive) will have the hotend centered (left-right) on a MGN12-H X carriage, for example. Other X carriages with V-wheels will have the hotend slightly to the right of the center wheel to not hit the screw and nut of the bottom V-wheel.

Andrew Soderberg

The Hero Me Magnet Edition (a patron exclusive) will have the hotend centered (left-right) on a MGN12-H X carriage. The Hero Me Pro kit is only available from my licensed vendors. I am now working on expanding the selection of Gantry Adapters and X carriage/Linear rail mounts for the Hero Me Magnet Edition that has no cost (other than the Patreon subscription).

Andrew Soderberg

i was not referring to the y axis offset. My comment was in reference to the x axis offset from the mgn12 carriage

Jade

3DFused is already stocking them I just bought a kit.

Makes sense. I'm sure for a license product it's much cheaper to not have to buy some high power magnets. I'll wait for further refinement on your Gen7 magnetic version then if you are focused on finishing or further refining it. Thanks for the info!

The3DHobbyist

The position of the hotend is the same in the Hero Me Pro as with the Gen7. The 9mm Y axis offset (the only compromise of the Hero Me ) is the same for both Gen7 and Pro. The Pro is redesigned to mount the Base to the Gantry Adapter from the front instead of the back. The Base is also wider inside to hold larger hotends. The Hotend mounts are lower profile with thicker ‘wings’. The part cooling ducts are refined to mount to the Base allowing the sides to have the same thickness given the larger interior.

Andrew Soderberg

So if we want the front mount (which could mount the hotend directly over the carriage instead of well off to the side), we have to buy it from a vendor? Or is there another way to move it closer to the carriage that I'm not aware of.

Send me an email with your contact info and website and we can discuss partnering to get the Hero Me Pro into Italy and beyond. Send to: MediaMan3D@gmail.com

Andrew Soderberg

Will these pro files be available for us to print? I VERY much like the concept of having the base attach from the front. Seems much more serviceable. I considered the magnetic version but really don't mind the screw setup but it's just such a pain to remove the hotend currently. (Note that despite this minor gripe, I still very much enjoy and love this system and praise it any chance I get. Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this system!)

The3DHobbyist

Cool!

Gene Chouiniere

Did you try using shorter screws?

Joe Spacco

Hi! Andy, I recently bought some linear rails (MGN12-H) And I was wondering whether you would be willing to send me the step file for the MGN12-H front gantry adapter? As I have found that, when I screw the adapter to the rail block, the screws for the HMG7 base are protruding out the back and interfere with the adapter sitting flush against the rail block. Or am I doing something wrong? If so, could you update the docs to include some guide for mounting the HMG7 to the rail block? Or otherwise would it at least be nice to have a list of files which are needed for certain combinations of rail mounts. I have found that the HMG6 docs have some reference to which files are needed, but the HMG7 docs have none at all. Thanks!

Cypher156

Great Job!!! I'm interested in become your partner for European Market. I'm Giuseppe from Italy. Explain me better how we can cooperate. Thank you

Giuseppe Grisolia

Are patron members going to have access to the files so that we may build our own? The front mounted base seams like it would be an amazing upgrade over the current linear rail setup as it could bring the hotend back to the carriage instead of hanging off the side.

Jade

Won't be at RMRRF, but I do love this. Congrats!

TankErdin

I look forward to seeing you there!

Andrew Soderberg

That's awesome! I was just thinking today about the possibility of selling this toolhead as a configuration since it has been my favorite bedslinger toolhead so far. I'll be at RMRRF as well!
