April Q&A

Our monthly Q&A session is open~! There are some new people in this tier this month -- welcome and thank you so much for your support!!! ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’—

Feel free to comment any questions you may have here (webcomic/OC related or not) and I'll be happy to answer them! Please don't feel pressured to ask anything either if you don't want to/can't think of anything this month ๐Ÿฅฐ

Aaah so sorry โ€” just saw this one! I am such a sucker for comedy and romcom movies/books โ€” if that wasnโ€™t obvious already haha ๐Ÿฅฐ My secret guilty pleasure though is reading creepy stories and listening to horror podcasts on YouTube, if that counts! โœจ

Hmmmm. Main 3 favorite genres of movies and /or books?

Pumpkin

and iโ€™m going to be paying special attention to pinkie promises from now on! what a tender detail ๐Ÿฅบ

Ahhh I love that so much! itโ€™s so cool to learn about your process as I watch the story unfold! i canโ€™t wait to watch the relationship between Jon and Alex blossom ๐Ÿฅน

Ooh thanks for the questions! ๐Ÿฅฐ A bit of both actually for the script~ I spent around a year scripting the entire story before I started illustrating, but I also go off script on occasion โ€” usually with dialogue when I can find a less awkward way of wording something โœจ There are other instances too when I realize my script jumps ahead too much, and we need more explanation to make the message clearer. I remember that the flashback scenes to Jon and Alex as kids in Chapter 1 was a last minute choice to help introduce their characters better. Iโ€™m also winging the whole birthday party situation in our current chapter because the boysโ€™ friendship in my original script came about a little too quickly and without as many speed bumps as I would like lol Favorite detail-wise, the themes of pinkie promises and Alexโ€™s paintings make me very excited ๐Ÿ‘€โœจ The conclusion to both of those has made me tear up while writing โ€” and I just hope itโ€™ll be as impactful to other readers when we get to the end too ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’—

hey sarah! i have a question about your script process! did you decide the whole story/script ahead of time and started illustrating once it was complete or do you just go with the flow? and with respect to the story(as long as itโ€™s not a spoiler haha) what has been one of your favorite details in Itโ€™s Kind of a Funny Story that makes you just grin like a fool when you think about it? ๐Ÿ˜
