TFS: Chapter 36 — The Eye of Colchis

Comments

Lorgan was found 857.m30, and it is believed the primarch were scattered around 792.30, so it's around 807.m30 or 808.30. If nothing massive changes, that gives the federation around 50 years to keep expanding and building up, and if they manage to secure the stc, the xenos' stolen that could further expand the progress that will be made. The empress's plan was to reunite all of humanity, and her second son is doing a damn fine job of doing so. When contact is made, it might be better to make the federation a vassal state, since changing how the federation works might be too much work. It will be interesting to see the empress's view on the Inquisition, and the first meeting with Mechanicum will be fun to watch.

Just joined as a member so I could read the Patreon chapters. Hearing a lot of doomer vibes about when the Imperium will come and the Mechanicum will try and stake a claim. I don't know. The Imperium may be larger, but Alex's Federation is more cohesive and dynamic. Alliance and some level of semi-autonomy will probably be what is coming. The Empress will probably know and see that a light touch regarding the Federation will get better results. Technologically the New Federation may be behind in some areas, but the structure and institutions and mentality Alex has fostered are actually ahead of most Imperium metrics. Quality of life, education, infrastructure, morale. And that is before getting into practical areas Alex is ahead in, like an Inquisition and Chaos elimination and containment. Eventually I do want to have some kind of scene with like the Empress and her Custodes like Constantin Valdor on a tour of an Inquisition facility, maybe the one being set up on Colchis. And the Empress and Valdor don't actually have a LOT of criticisms. Alexander's Inquisition are a professional outfit. Competent, with oversight, sufficiently watchful. Can harden their hearts without becoming kill everyone in sight. Maybe the Empress says she has some technology to share in furthering containment protocols or she wants to develop a wider Imperial Inquisition using Alex's group as a base and as trainers. If the Imperium doesn't have to lay down the law or do massive violent restructuring why would the Empress do so? It saves energy and aggravation. It could be interesting if the Athenian Federation becomes kind of like a Security Council member to the larger Imperium's UN. The Federation has enough territory and tech and special clout to have some weight and the Empress can work with Alexander.

Miles H

Right now, it is inferior, but he is establishing a culture and institutions where technological competition (and therefore advancement) is incredibly beneficial. Like in our own world, and besides that, he is promoting and giving tens of thousands of grants all over the Federation. That, over time, should make him have better tech than the Imperium. But it also comes with the problem of the Mechanicum and their own philosophy.

you too?

Thanks for the chapter. So far this has been only fic that I'm following that has had constant updates. I have a luck of whenever I start following a fic, author immediately disappears lmao

Will Alex’s sector be technologically more advanced than the imperium?

Uhhhhhhh… most of what Aurelia suffered is accurate to what Lorgar (her canon counterpart) suffered except for the molestation and rape (I’m pretty sure). When it comes to the other primarchs well, some of them had it worse than others let’s just say (some high highs, and some extreme lows). I’ll say this now, if they all have the same backstory’s as canon, there is one Primarch who’s childhood was significantly worse than any other I’d say (don’t want to ruin any surprise if you are only experiencing 40K through this).

Thank you for the chapter.

So I'm not that familiar with 40k but if these Primarchs evolve through stress and Aurelia is still a little girl who was assaulted and whipped. How bad to the others have it? Are the others dismembered, tortured, or lobotomized after every meal?! Sheesh. This grimdark stuff is no joke.

The inquisition in that other universe left much to be desired. Understatement of the milenium the original inquistion is such a mess no standardized training, no proper accountability ,no proper oversight just an absolute shitshow.

1. Typo-Even if it did not we could use it would by world, to terraform it, once we understood how to use it. Once its full potential, we could take it to dead worlds and turn them into something usable. Shouldnt it say we could use it world by world 2. Typo-“Good,” I murmured. “That’s your connection. That’s you touching the Inmaterium. Should say immaterium.

travis btmb

Yep, thanks!

1. Potential typo- the storm had been hard to curtail. There had been little warp energy fueling it, thankfully, just a relentless piece of technology constantly feeding power and changing the climate. Not sure if you meant to say the storm hadn't been hard to curtail. I could be wrong. 2. Potential typo-The contrast between Ariana’s energy and Aurelia’s tentative reserve was immediate, and I couldn’t help but anticipate the chaos these might create together. Shouldnt it say the chaos these two might create together. 3. “You’ve done it,” I said softly. “That was your first control. Even this small step is important.” shouldnt it say that was your first step towards control.

travis btmb

It's not a short process; the inquisition will be working on and watching the planet for centuries.

Jajasx222

I get the feeling that purging out such an important planet for chaos would take way longer than a few years (if ever truly gone) despite them being this advanced. I doubt even peak humanity could do it in such a short time.
