Finally I get a some time to read the update! Great chapter.l, a persons with gigantism is terrifying with all the magic enhancing that exists in Westeros. My personal theory is that magic in asoiaf is blood and faith. The more people that believe something, the truer it becomes. That’s why the seven and red god faithful are always at each others throats. Also why when everyone believes that Jaime, Barristan and Arthur Dwayne are the best swordsmen alive, they become so deadly they can carve through armies to kill commanders. Everyone is scared of the mountain, believing him unstoppable, so he becomes unstoppable. People believe in the blood of kings, thus burning it has power. I hope that Jon uses the time to rebuild the palisade and make more slings and makeshift catapults. Use dead bodies (enemy ones) and spears armor as munition. Just one more day. Using the body of the mountain as rock is funny to me, his head is the only valuable pare anyway, and his armor no one can use it, so it’s only a trophy that can be retaken after the battle is won. You allowed Dacey to live, only to kill Myles, well done. I love being surprised. It’s why I love asoiaf so much. I can’t predict who lives or dies. No one is safe. Still I hope his family is still alive back north. A son, nephew, daughter or sibling. Give them a fucking castle, a noble title and a statue! If anyone’s earned it. If it’s a young son, then crakehall, (the heir is a newborn daughter, and it has a forest nearby, perfect for a Northman). If not then janei Lannister is also young and she is a swyft from her mother. If it’s a sibling then lady lefford will do.

2026-02-25 14:37:23 +0000 UTCYeah, we have many examples of multi-day battles in our history, especially when there are fortifications involved, something that does not appear in ASOIAF. It makes sense, though, we have few pitched battles in canon. Ramsay did have contact with Tywin, whatever it was, though... I doubt the old Lion would open his mouth.

Bit more realistic that it occurs over the series of days/period of time rather than just one big brawl. I mean those fights DO happen it’s just not all the time and especially not when Daemon is at a bigger disadvantage here. Ramsey being promised presumably his own lordship and warden of the north as well as legitimacy is likely what got him to turn, rather than “discovering” Boltens true death. Interesting he didn’t try to bargain to be made legitimate with daemon first though. I do hope you manage to keep Tywin alive as well as the other Lannisters. I’d love to see an interaction between him and the guy who ended their legacy. Maybe even have Daemon rub it in their faces that the crypts have been desecrated including Tywins own father. In any case I imagine we’ll have another chapter or two of the battle and then followed up by an interlude presumably with Barriston and other forces. I’d love to see what Stannis and Aegon are up to though.

2026-02-25 01:12:05 +0000 UTCEh. This is honestly much more realistic than ASOIAF. Hes a fucking mountain of a man (hence the name). And he’s wearing the thickest armor to ever be made. He’s also 100% a berserker. Good steel armor is going to turn away most projectiles and blades. Gregor is wearing the equivalent of 3 suits of plate. And not only is he not alone, he’s wielding a great-sword. The primary purpose of a great-sword is to keep enemies away. So between the armor, the great-sword, and the red cloaks- yes, the literally superhuman Clegane wrecks house. And he is superhuman. He’s Brian Shaw with 1.5 ft more and more muscle. So yes, he can die, but you bet your ass it’s gonna suck.

2026-02-24 20:49:59 +0000 UTCSo Gregor Clegane is tough and all but this was straight up super human, Like in ASOIAF if he gets ganged up on by 6+ average fighters he is gong to quickly get overwhelmed and die. The setting is generally fairly grounded in what people can actually do.
