August Update

Hey there, guys! How's your summer been so far? The sun has been a little lacking over here--in fact right now it's raining quite heavily--but it's not so bad.

Anyways, a new month has rolled on in, so I figure it's the perfect time for a new update on the status of things!


Art


First up--with the addition of the new artist to the team, the CG scenes have been progressing smoothly, and at a rapid pace. Right now the final scenes originally planned for the game are being finished up, and then some extra ones are going to be worked on that will fit into the game quite nicely, giving certain characters some extra screen time.


At the current pace things are being completed, I'm confident everything will be ready in time for the late August (this month!) release I have planned.


I don't want to spoil too much given how close we are to the release now, and I'm sure you would some things to be kept as a surprise, too, but I'll share with you a work-in-progress (shading and final touching up is yet to be done) sneak peek of what to expect:


In addition, one of the artists has a special surprise for you guys providing all works out in the following weeks, as they've enjoyed their time working on the project greatly and is cooking up something I know you're gonna love! So look forward to that!


All other aspects of the first chapter are still progressing smoothly, too. I've been doing a lot of editing work on the voice files being delivered my way, cutting them up into lines ready to be inserted into the game, and going over the writing that already exists to try and shape it into something worthy of a commercial release, hoping to iron out any embarrassing typos beforehand!



In the coming days I'll see about getting voice clip previews of some of the characters you may not have heard yet, to give you an idea of what to expect for the final game. Needless to say I'm excited about the voice work currently being sent my way and feel they really bring the scenes to life, and I hope you guys will feel the same way as well!



And finally, I'll be seeing about adding in much needed sounds to the final builds, too, as the demo that exists currently feels so lacking without them I believe. I feel in the case of the h-scenes that adding sounds will be a delicate balance between enhancing the experience and risking making it sound ridiculous if the effects sound too over the top. But I'll try my best to ensure they don't detract, and at the very least offer a way to mute the sounds, but keep the voice acting if that's how some people may wish to experience things.

The extra sounds could be nice but I thinkyou're right to worry about over doing it. Could be a fine line between sexy and ridiculous. But your idea to have them as optional is a clever way around the issue. Keen to have a sneak peak at the new voices too. :)
