EDIT: All copies have been sent out now. If you believe I have overlooked you, please PM me and I'll try to sort things out!
Hiya guys!
A little later than intended--but without further delay, the patron release is upon us! For anyone curious, the Nutaku release will be delayed a few more hours than the date originally set, but it's only a minor set back.
I could ramble on and on here about how proud I am about what I've--we've accomplished here with this monumental release of the first chapter~ But I've bored you guys to death enough already with my mountains of text before, so I'll get right to the good part, haha.
What I'll be sending to each of you who has pledged $10 or more and has been processed this month is the first retail build of Quest Failed: Chapter One. The same one that'll be going live on Nutaku very shortly~ Now, I've been slaving away for days without sleep to ensure I met with Nutaku's release schedule, but due to this tight release period, I want to clarify a few things about the build so you're aware of them.
- Right now, as was the case with the demo, there are no sound effects. This was a conscious decision on my part, and I intend to get sounds specifically done for the project, rather than use a mishmash of free resources which might come off sounding more awkward than no sound at all. Especiallyfor h-scenes.
- On the subject of SFX, the little soundbytes that might occasionally play during lines of dialogue has been disabled currently. This is due to the time it was going to take to finish editing down the remaining three character's soundbytes besides Jilly and Tari, and slot them into the large script where appropriate. Much like with the sound effects, I intend to re-implement them with a patch in the foreseeable future. (All voices for h-scenes are fully intact though, don't worry! Just wait until you get to the oral scenes, whew~)
- The Journal page, of which I had yet to fully divulge with you guys will be closed on release, though much like the other things, will be added shortly after. It was something I didn't want to rush, as I feel it can be something special and will add a great layer of depth to the game if implemented right.
Essentially, the journal is a menu in the Extras where you can read up on the monster girls and learn a little more about them. In addition you'll be able to read notes from Matt and his failed quests, along with learning a little more history about the world, that might be skimped on in the main story to move things along at a quick pace.
There's also going to fun, goofy interactions with the girls there, much like how the demo had some of that in some of its secret areas. And some other surprises too~
- While I boasted a 12 h-scene count in the previous press release--you may notice there is only in fact 11 across the Gallery board. This is a very special CG, and I wish to do it justice, and wasn't happy with the way the current narration was for it. (Though the VA was perfect~) So it will also come along with a future update. This CG scene will be my top priority in re-implementing it back into the game of course, as I don't want you all to miss out! That said, you won't notice its omission in the game as I made sure to elegantly disable it to ensure the overall flow of the game's story wasn't interrupted.
Whew. Here I said I wouldn't ramble but it looks like I accidentally did anyway!
I just wanted to be honest with you guys, though. The game IS finished, and the story is playable from start to finish. I just wanted to make sure you guys knew the reasons for these omissions, in case you picked up on them during gameplay.
That said, I really hope you enjoy Matt's first adventure into this crazy world, and look forward for what's to come in the future! I hope you guys stick around. It's gonna be awesome!
