Hiya there,
How are we all doing? Hard to believe that Summer has come and gone so quickly already and the days are starting to get colder again! I hope you're all doing well.
For today's dev log I wanted to talk about something. Namely shiny and round, and--no, get your mind out of the gutter! I'm talking about GOLD!
The currency that makes the world go 'round, gold will play a big part in young Matthew's adventure this time around.
The Queen bestows upon him a fairly generous sum at the start of the game as reward for his brave deeds, but then it's up to you, the player to manage how he spends this money. Chances to earn money are far and few in between, so this gives a real importance to your choices. Do you play it safe and keep your money so that you can afford to spend another luxury night at Rhan's finest inn, or do you gamble it on a quest in the hopes of earning more? (But let's face it, given the name of the game, is that really a good idea?)
Alongside character relationships playing a larger factor here, gold is really the driving force in your day-to-day interactions and becomes something of a precious resource you have to keep an eye on if you want to survive in Rhan--as both spending, and saving gold will determine what quests and scenes you may have available to you at any given time!
Just how thankful would June, the pure and innocent nun be if you were to donate to her cause and help her renovate the dilapidated church? Would Anna, the shrewd innkeeper really make you sleep out on the streets if you had no money? ...Who can say!
I've really had a lot of fun planning out this currency system, while also trying to ensure that you, as a player, won't ever feel like you've become stuck without gold. There's no hard game over if you run out of money--things will simply play out a little different, and new options may even open up as a result, so there'll be a lot of experimenting to do for players that want to see it all!

Additionally--I just wanted to post one last little teaser thing that isn't related to Quest Failed, but is from something I'm heavily considering releasing in the future.

Some of you may already be familiar with the character, while most of you are more likely not, but this belongs to a project I worked on previously before I started Quest Failed. In many ways, it's a precursor to Quest Failed, with a lot of themes and character types that I ultimately ended up adapting into an adult monster girl game instead.
And while the original incarnation of this past project was all ages, I'm heavily considering bringing it back in some form or another with added adult content for you all to enjoy.
To clarify though--all my attention is being focused Chapter 2 of Quest Failed at the moment.
I suppose this is maybe my way of testing the waters, to see if in the future, you may be interested in such a thing being released here, or if you only wish to see 100% Quest Failed related content.
Anyways, thank you for reading my rambling dev log to the end, it's much appreciated! If you've read this far, please let me know what you might like to see featured in the next dev log~
