Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #20

Hiya there,

I hope everyone is doing well! Once again, I apologise for the slower rate at which these dev logs are being posted. I've been pretty much buried in the scripts and image files for Chapter Two as I work hard on making a pretty substantial new update to the alpha build!

I don't want to spoil everything of course, but I've made great strides in the day/night interactions and passage of time, which will serve as the fundamental framework for the gameplay loop of Chapter Two! Admittedly it's been a bit of an experimental phase as this style is far more of a departure from Chapter One's more linear outing, but I stand firm in my belief that this will make for a far greater adventure.

And as I've said before, the amount of content I'll be putting into this in terms of writing, art, voice acting, music, characters--pretty much everything has been heavily expanded on! It's been super exciting to work on something as big as this, even if admittedly it can be exhausting to put in so much work in a day and realise there's still a mountain to climb before I can consider it all finished, but I can't tell you all how glad I am that so many people are supporting me on this journey and share the same enthusiasm to see young Matt's adventures come to fruition.

Anywayyyys, before I end up getting too sappy over things, I wanted to use this dev log to tease a better view of a CG that I think I've teased on my twitter account before, but wanted to show it off here too so people don't miss out. Namely a CG scene featuring everyone's favourite undead sleepyhead, Nefertari!

I'll link it instead of embedding it so people that are wary of spoilers and wish to experience everything themselves going in blind can avoid it.

This scene in particular is a very gentle, and sweet one, showing off Tari's more caring side rather than her lustful one, as I wanted a wide mix of h-scenes that aren't all gloom and doom for poor Matt--while still ensuring that there's a degree of femdom, as per the spirit of this series! In this case though, it's more a gentle kind of femdom, where Matt's still firmly in the submissive role, but not completely overwhelmed or abused. It's always a nice change of pace, and I hope you'll agree~

This also leads me to how I'm generally structuring things, where the more familiar Matt may become with any one monster girl (if he repeatedly visits/talks to them and fills up their affection bar) the more intimate they'll wish to become with him, rather than just outright pouncing him for their own satisfaction. Most first encounters with new monster girls will still be pretty frantic and chaotic, of course, and not all the characters will be so inclined as to always be gentle with him once they become familiar with him, so they won't all follow the same formula of course!

So while Chapter One sowed the seeds for a lot of potential relationships with the monster girls without delving too deep into things, Chapter Two will allow you to truly grow closer to the ones you might love!

(Just make sure it's only Jilly, or she'll get really, really mad!)
