Hi there, guys!
(Apologies in advance as this dev log turns into a bit of a stream of conscious, rambling log, but I'll try to avoid these in the future!)
In today's dev log, I'm teasing another sneak peek at a CG of which I believe I've shown the sketch of before, but figured it wouldn't hurt to show how pretty it looks all nice and coloured, further giving a glance into the chaotic battles our young adventurer is thrust into.
Let's just say that young Matthew has found himself in a rather...thorny...situation, huhuhuhu.
Okay, that was terrible--I apologise. No more bad puns. At least for the duration of this dev log. If I can help it.
At any rate--for those potentially wondering, I have one last scene to wrap up and polish before the alpha build is ready. I hope my words don't sound hollow after how long it's been delayed, but I can't express enough how sorry and how guilty I feel for how out of hand the launch has gotten. But then I feel if I rush things for the sake of it, I'll be giving you all a sub-par product that I know I haven't put my heart into. So I'm trying to avoid that and am plugging away at a pace that I know is current unacceptable, and will need to seriously re-think my methods for putting scenes together to see if there's potentially a way to speed things up. Thanks to your amazing support, we have shattered the $2k goal that was setup--and I have been considering looking at hiring an extra helping hand or two that would be able to deal with the more time-consuming aspects that take away from my writing. (Programming, scripting scenes together, formatting for the game, etc.) If I believe I can find people who have passion for the project and can match my general flow, I would be more than happy to accept them to the FrostWorks team and see if I can't speed things up a little!
Additionally, after the Chapter Two demo comes out (shortly after the new alpha launch, as the demo will be using a small slice of the alpha's current up to date content as a basis) I want to look at new ways to give back to you guys in the form of content beyond the usual dev logs or occasional stories/audio scenes. I haven't come up with anything solid yet--but if I can find reliable artists that aren't devoted to Chapter Two and beyond, I am looking at what I might be able to offer. As I feel you all give me a lot and in return while Chapter Two is taking so long, I've been offering very little.
Well, I apologise for rambling a little here! I didn't mean for a light-hearted dev log showing young Matt getting all tangled up to get so serious, but I suppose sometimes these are just the things at the back of my mind while I'm putting everything together. Chapter Two has just been such a gigantic project that everything else I would like to usually offer (bonus videos like Christmas, Valentines and the like) has been put on the back burner. I definitely think after Chapter Two is out, and while I collect feedback on it, I would like to take a small break before starting on Chapter Three, and use this small break to work on a smaller project that would only take a couple of months at most to finish and deliver to you all.
Though, ultimately, if people would rather I go straight to Chapter Three and spend my efforts there right away (since I'm sure you'll all be hungry for more of the story once Chapter Two launches), I will happily do so. I'm just throwing out potential ideas for what could happen!
Anyways, if I ramble on any longer I think my hands are going to fall off. I'll leave things at that for today and thank you all for your amazing support as always~
Keep an eye out for the alpha and demo soon, for realsies!
If anything I've brought up in this oppressive mountain of text has you concerned, or you wish for me to elaborate on anything, please let me know in the comments and I'll happily elaborate!
