A Very Special Announcement (Followup)
Added 2018-04-02 20:35:17 +0000 UTC(A quick note for anyone who may be wondering, I will be sending out all Patreon rewards tomorrow for all those eligible, fear not--as all of the content I've been posting in the past couple of days and prepping has left me rather drained today.)
Hiya again! Now that the dust has settled a little on my--admittedly late--April Fools video, I suppose it's time to actually explain what the heck I just posted!
First of all, to quell any fears of me stretching myself too thin--no, this isn't a new project I've started up alongside Quest Failed. It's the opposite, actually!
What I mean by this is, the characters you've just seen are actually from a far older project of mine that I started (Mid 2014'ish) long before Quest Failed was ever a thing, though it went on a bit of a hiatus once Quest Failed picked up traction and became my main focus. In fact, you can see a lot of similarities with some of the characters and their inspired Quest Failed counterparts, as I lifted some aspects here and there while crafting things.
Despite being on the back-burner though, the characters and world from this old project have always remained dear to my heart--and I figured what better way to bring them back than with a goofy April Fools video where they hijack the channel and take the spotlight, if only for a day!
I hope you enjoyed their antics, and can consider this little video a glimpse into other things the FrostWorks label might one day release in the future and what other kinds of fun surprises I have in store! (After Chapter Two, of course)
Additionally--this prison project isn't something I work on full time, or for financial gain, at least at this point. You could call it something of a very personal passion project I've kept hold of over the years--something that means a lot to me, and something I chip away at very slowly, working with a dedicated artist who's been with me since 2014 and steadily amassing a large set of assets for the game. I envision it as a very big project and with a far more typical route based structure (think of something from Key like Clannad or Little Busters) After Quest Failed is done with, there could always be the option to bring this one to the forefront and put it into full time production--but that's a long time away, I'm sure!
However--I believe the appeal of this particular project is probably far more niche than that of Quest Failed, and will capture a far smaller audience. The sole reason for this being that it is not an adult title. Truthfully, there was a time where I attempted to fit adult elements into this particular project and try to make it fit more in line with the FrostWorks label and have a far wider appeal, but I wasn't happy with what I was doing with it and the adult elements just didn't mesh with the overall feel of the game. Unlike a universe that is completely designed around carefree, casual sex like Quest Failed, this prison project is slightly more grounded in its approach to things. So it's for this reason that it's more than likely never to become FrostWorks main focus--and will just remain a little side passion project/hobby thing I plug away at in my spare time when not powering away on Quest Failed things. (Also, for anyone potentially confused, you play as a male protagonist in the prison project. No yuri! (Well, I mean, I don't know what they get up to behind closed doors in those steamy showers, but that's between them and out of sight from the MC!))
A demo did in fact exist back in the day, but I've taken it down and wish to launch a new and improved demo down the line to better represent what the game is.
I understand you may still have questions regarding what you've seen/read today, and if you feel my post hasn't shone light on a particular point or perhaps I wasn't 100% clear on any element, please don't hesitate to ask and I'll be happy to answer!
In short: don't take this as a new project announcement, nor as any resources from here being devoted to it--and instead view it as a rare glimpse into what other characters/worlds I've had floating around in my head, and may hope to share more with you all soon!
