Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #60

How are we all doing today? The weather's finally beginning to cool down a little so without the threat of my brain melting through my nose I've been able to buckle down and really make headway on things. I think at this rate I'll have enough work to justify a whole new alpha build this month with a lot of fun new scenes and progression on the main story~
And for today's dev log, I figured it had been quite some time since I've showcased how a lot of the custom tailored sound track is coming along!
This particular sample was designed with a very moody vibe--imagine you're in a smoky, shady den with all sorts of unsavoury folks giving you shifty eyes, the kind of people you really don't want to get involved with, but might find yourself face to face with through sheer unfortunate chance.
And speaking of such people~

I don't want to give too much of them away just yet, so will showcase their equally shifty silhouettes, so you have something go along with the music. The only thing that's certain is that these folks are nothing but trouble for our brave adventurer and are the opposite of everything he stands for.
Who do you think these mysterious folks may be? Are you satisfied with how the general mood and feel of the soundtrack is coming along? Why am I asking you all so many questions like this is some kind of interrogation?!

Hiya, I absolutely want to aim for this year--even if I may end up cutting it close. As I would be disappointed in myself just as much as everybody else if development crossed over into 2019--because I have so many other plans and things I'd like to pursue in regards to Quest Failed, Chapter 3 and otherwise!

2018-07-16 16:28:48 +0000 UTCHave no fear~ Most of the stuff I showcase and tease as I go along was created a little while ago, and as of now the content for this Chapter is 'locked in', where I'm not adding in any more characters or scenes as to avoid development getting too out of hand. I'm just delving into content I hadn't yet shown while trying to avoid spoiling toooo much. As of right now with the current alpha, the main story wasn't a primary focus and is still slowly being expanded upon, but there's quite a few side quests to choose from, with one being a two-parter and the others being from short to long length, introducing a range of characters and h-scenes. I''m aiming to work to quite a dramatic scene in the main storyline right now--but am unsure how much of it I'll be able to get done before the next alpha build. If the main storyline is what you're hoping for from the alpha build, you may want to hold off from diving in until a little later, as things are still a little messy in the build and rough around the edges.

BTW on a scale of one to ten how much of the story does the current beta/alpha cover (including side quests/stories)? My financial situation has improved a bit and I've been thinking of changing my pledge for next month to try it out and take off the edge of waiting.

Your concern is understandable and admittedly the game has been a bit of a large undertaking for me with the desire to make everything bigger and better than Chapter 1 was. Though, on the subject of the characters--while there are a lot of them, some will only have minor appearances/scenes in this chapter and perhaps extend to future plot points in another chapter, so aren't as fully fleshed out as others may be with multiple scenes. To create a living, breathing fantasy world I felt it was important to populate it with a lot of characters, but can understand where the concern comes from and it's been a learning experience for me in putting something this big together.

2018-07-16 14:17:50 +0000 UTCThe music sounds awesome. Like definitely the kind of music you'd hear in the background of an anime where shifty things happen. Based on this music and the little hint you gave us I'd say they are human Bandits or Mercenaries who Matty-boy either confronts or tries to hire for help with something but. I can imagine them making him "pay" in a different kind of way if he's short on money or they just take his stuff. BTW I realize that you're trying to make the game as big and entertaining as possible but try to ease up on introducing the new characters. I mean not counting the known cast (to those of us that don't have the alpha build) we got seven new mystery Men/Women (Demon Girl, Mermaid that saved us from drowning, Mystery girl from Twitter that's aligned with ??? and we think is a Minotaur of some sort, the girl from the last Dev-log, and now these three new ones). I'm not saying you're overdoing it, in fact I love a big cast, but I just want you to be sure that you're not trying to do too much.
