Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #83

Hiya there!

How are we all doing? It's admittedly been a bit of a large gap between this post and the last dev log, due to the Valentine's image in-between--and I have been trying to pace myself a little more with these sorts of logs, just because the further we get along--the more spoiler-laden content I'm at risk of showing. And as I've expressed before, I don't want to have spoiled the entire game before you ever get a chance to play it! I may try to futher supplement the weekly dev logs with other fun features if I can help it, so we can keep some mystery in the air~

The more I buckle down and work on things, the more difficult it becomes to balance between both that and making new dev logs--but I know it's just as important to keep you guys in the loop with it all, as it is to actually make the game, so I'm hoping to strike a good balance!

Ideas I've been milling over are things like a Q&A style thing (if you guys even had any other questions for me beyond 'when chapter 2' lol.) and showcasing some old work/stories I made long before Quest Failed was ever a thing--just so you had more content to go over. But I'll wait to hear what you all want to see first!

But anyways, pre-rambling aside--I bring to you a gift-wrapped Tari that you may have already seen on Twitter--but felt it would be criminal for anybody to miss out on the adorableness, so here she is again! This was gift-art courtesy of a good friend of mine of whom I've been working with on various projects since as early as 2014, so I was really amazed to see their own adorable take on our lovely undead sleepyhead. What do you guys think of her?

And so this post isn't just entirely recycled content, I want to go over what I've been working on extensively over the last week. Writing, of course! But what exactly have I been writing? Right now, I'm still fleshing out some of the camp dialogue and events, and it's been a lot of fun to return to old and established characters and bring to life some wacky shenanigans between them all. It's also interesting to see how they've 'evolved' as characters since I first created them--and what life in a communal camp will do to them! Ruby, for example has sort of become designated 'camp mom' for Jilly and Tari, even if it was against her will at the start. But since Ruby has the most survival knowledge when it comes to cooking and camping, she's proven to be the perfect person to keep everyone together and happy. Even if she still gets a bit flustered being in the presence of such prettiful ladies. Will she ever get over her shyness? Who can say!

Writing in this natural way has also given me a lot of fun ideas as to how to integrate the inventory and affection system and tie it to numerous other scenes that may be gated off otherwise. For example, a character may say they want something in particular, and refuse to talk to Matt properly until he fulfills their request. Meaning that some h-scenes may require a bit of...well, not puzzling, since you know what item they want, but more the knowledge of where to get these items, and balancing your gold in the meantime.

Speaking of more involved solutions--I wanted to tease this cool cut-in panel, too! It's not a full CG in itself, but does lead to a bigger CG after. I would almost say Matt looks cool here, if not for the copious amounts of sweat!

I wonder what he's trying to catch--and if it will possibly end well for him? (When does it ever, really?)

And that about wraps things up for today's dev log~ As I say, let me know what you guys think about the potential ideas I listed above for future posts--and if there's anything you'd like to see from me--because I'm always aiming to please! (N-not in that way...unless...that's what you really want from me, uwaaaa)

Until next time!

When chapter 2 lol

Fading Glimmer

Gotta love some Tari~ ...After Ruby of course! I mean, Ruby is always going to be number one for me~. (Yes I am going to mention Ruby in pretty much every post! Lol) You know, the more I play games like this and more recently "Sables Grimoire" (Drakan is totally adorable~)... the more I realise I MAY have a slight teensy tiny dragon girl fetish... o.O. Shame Sables Grimoire is a cuppa PG... only action was an indirect soup kiss and a cuddle at the end -_- no being plowed into the ground in that... and I'm no farmer, but that's my favorite kind of plowing~.
