Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Alpha Build 0.9
Added 2019-09-03 06:44:23 +0000 UTCHiya there,
I'm about half-dead after finishing things up and testing all day in the hopes that nothing breaks--but I THINK (keyword here being THINK) that things should all run as intended, so yay!
I'm making this post public to all tiers to alert those that may have been promised this build on an early month and have downgraded since then, which is completely understandable. Rest assured I've uploaded the new alpha build to the old folder as promised! If you feel you were owed access to 0.9 at a certain point and haven't received it in your google drive folder, then please feel free to get in touch and let me know what date you were last at the alpha tier--I'll try to make everything right again!
As I say, things SHOULD work--but if you run into any unexpected issues or break anything (assuming you start a fresh new file, which is expected during this initial testing period) then let me know and I'll get a fresh version up pronto! It took me long enough to release this darn build, so the least I can do is try to get the fixes out on time!
Now for the fun part! What does this new build actually have? For 0.9 I went for a balance of enhancing old content and adding in new stuff--and think what's here now is quite decent! But to put it in list form:
- A flashy new semi-animated opening of sorts has been added to the beginning of the game. What does it mean or represent? I dunno--but it sure looks dark and pretty! (Hopefully not TOO dark on some monitors, haha) And replaces the bizarre pixely image I had at the start for so long.
- Added partial functionality of Claire's shop upon reopening it. You can now buy and sell a limited range of items (1 for buying and 1 for selling. Baby steps, but it paves the way to far greater functionality down the road!)
- Added the ability to visit the library upon completing its relevant quest. Partially. You can talk to the inhabitant of this library and discuss several books. The books haven't all been fully written, and nor has the dialogue for discussing each book--but it's something I intend to add to over time, as it's a very relaxed little place in the city and I feel I can add to this section when other parts may be bogging me down! A lot of the dialogue is quite cute here, so please check it out!
- Added something that happens when you have no money to pay at the inn. I won't spoil what~ (Right now you can only see this outside of the infinite loop once story segments of the inn have been exhausted, so waste all that gold fast!)
- Added a fun new event that happens in the camp. Directions to unlock it will be added to the following post alongside information on how to get the new h-scenes.
- Added a new event in the swamp once you're able to visit there more freely. This leads up to Lucille's 2nd h-scene happening in the following day.
- Added 2 new h-scenes. One with a fiery gal, and one with a cunning gal. Directions on how to obtain these will be in a follow-up post! Each one comes complete with voice acting, so rejoice!
- On the subject of voice acting, all prior h-scenes in the build that had no voice acting now have it! I find this adds far more life to them, and encourage you to revisit any old h-scenes you may have been wishing had voices! This was a lot of work especially, and I almost decided against not doing it for this build, but felt it was about time they all got some voices at long last!
- Tari's scene and Ren's second scene have been 'enhanced' and made far messier, as I felt the previous climax layers were very lacking and didn't match the severity of the narration. Again, this should make them fun to revisit!
Unfortunately the 3rd h-scene I was trying to add alongside these new scenes proved to be a little trickier than I thought, so I've had to put it on hold while I release 0.9--but it'll be my top priority for the next build along with a lot of fun features. This is part of the reason why I went back and added voices to the scenes that didn't have them--just to try and make up for the lack of it. Please forgive me--but I'm sure since I'm not rushing it, it'll turn out really nicely!
Tomorrow (the 3rd) I'll be sending out rewards, too--so if you're due for the alpha you'll get the shiny new 0.9 at that time!
Thanks again everyone for your IMMENSE patience on this slow ol' turtle of a gamedev. I don't wanna jinx myself, but 0.10 SHOULD be sooner than past builds. All the pieces are here--it's just up to me to stitch them together!
Scene guide will follow shortly!
And again, if anything breaks or acts like it probably shouldn't (i.e scripts skip to a scene it shouldn't or something) shoot me a message and I'll fix it pronto!
Whooooosh~
