Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #149

Heya there, everyone! How are we all doing today? Are you enjoying your summer so far? I know it's SUPPOSED to be summer, but honestly, over here--it's been way too cold. Which...is probably a good thing, given I melt in the heat. But that's just bound to happen when you have an affinity with ice, you know?

Anyways, I'm back with a shiny new dev log today, and this time around I have an in-progress sketch to share!

This particular piece isn't a h-scene in itself--but more of a steamy moment that straddles the line between being a heartfelt moment, and something a little heavier, as is made evident by the fact that Lucille's top has SOMEHOW managed to come undone amid all the chaos. Because, you know--those puppies of hers were always one small accident away from being unleashed anyway, right?

Like several smaller scenes in the past, this is the result of a moment that has already been written and intended as a more straight-forward scene with sprites, but I felt in the end it benefited from having slightly more intimate visuals and voicework, just to help develop the relationship with Lucille a little more! Sometimes you never know what moments you might want to be visualised via CG outside of a few key moments in your head until you finally put words to paper and realise something works REALLY well. I've had that happen with quite a few moments as I move forward with writing--and while I sadly can't give them all CG, I do my best to home in on the ones that stand out in my head.

So, in other words, all of the times Matthew has crashed face-first into a fabulous pair of breasts in MOSTLY accidental manners. Because, yes. So--there may or may not be times where it was intentional, but perhaps not for lustful reasons.

In this particular scenario, you can bet it wasn't intended--as is made evident by the shocked faces on both Matt AND Lucille. Unless Matt just finally decided to go for it. And, goodness, the force of his impact was so strong, he even managed to knock her hat clean off! A rare sight for the lamia, for sure. And...goodness...is he even copping a feel here? Obviously not on purpose, but still, this must be something of a first, right?

This all ties back with the ongoing events Matt has with Lucille where he attempts to help rebuild her hut for her, feeling guilty for previous events with a bashful dragon that led to it all almost burning down. With each time he visits Lucille, he'll be fixing up a different part of her house--and learning a little more about Lucille in the process. And maybe even...falling in love~? Who can say! Either way, I've greatly enjoyed adding these more heartwarming moments with a woman that may have seemed just a touch too outwardly cruel in Chapter One. She'll still have her mischievous moments, of course--but for those of you that may have been drawn in by her serpentine charms, but put off by all the poisoning and slapping, you can be sure you won't get any of that in her new interactions. Unless, of course, you want it...? At a certain point she's going to be quite eager to please!

So, for this scene, we end up with Matt on the roof, and plummeting to the ground where Lucille attempts to catch him. The landing is soft. Very, VERY soft. And before he can push himself off in a fluster, as he might usually do in such a situation...

*Squish.*

Of course. There's no escaping from her chest, now! They've both been working hard all day, after all. Built up a real sweat. Where is the harm in just lying back and relaxing for a bit? Rest well, brave adventurer-to-be, you've earned it~

Also, as a fun side note--my comments and directions for this scene as it was being sketched up can largely be summed up as: "the breasts need to be larger, LARGER!" Because initially we had something that maybe was more true to her sprite art 1:1, but for the sake of emphasising the comfy crash pillows here--I felt I could get away with giving them just a little more OOMPH. Nobody is going to complain, right? Maybe we can just say they're far bigger once she unholsters them from the thin fabric straps that just barely keep them in check?

That does bring me to a side note, where the size of breasts maybe does seem to vary between characters from scene to scene. A lot of care IS taken to be on model where possible--except for those 2 instances I missed Ruby's cheek scales in Chapter One, d'oh--but sometimes for the sake of a CG scene, or a moment, I'm not adverse to bolstering their chest sizes a little. Then again, it's not like we have that many small chested characters to begin with--so I don't think people are going to bat an eye, but hey. This also ties into how Matt is maybe getting just a touch smaller in some CG scenes as of late...but really, this was how I always wanted him to be. I think I was a bit more nervous when making Chapter One, and tried to adhere to slightly taller proportions--but here, I'm trying to embrace my original idea for him. This also includes far more facial expressions. In Chapter One, he barely had a face at all--but here, he sometimes has just as many expressions as the women themselves in a scene. How do you guys feel about Matt taking a slightly larger role in CG scenes? Do you mind--or would you prefer he be pushed back a bit? Ultimately, people have varying preferences for h-stuff, so there's never one clear consensus, but it's good to hear regardless, so I have an idea for future stuff!

Anyways, going back to Lucille--when all is said and done, I think she's going to have one of the largest 'arcs' of any character in the game. It'll take a lot of dedication win over her witchy heart--but I think the rewards are more than worth it. And...when you finally get to the end of her arc...? Who can say what might happen! I mean, obviously I can--but I don't want to spoil ALL of the surprises. Either way--I hope this ends up redeeming her in the eyes of those who may have been iffy about her, while further enhancing the love people may have already had for her. Make sure not to neglect going to that swamp!

And--I guess this wraps it up for this week's dev log. I hope you enjoyed a deeper glimpse into the sultry snek. Were they any other characters you were curious about that you may want to see more of right now? I know we've pretty much cycled through them at this point in dev logs, but I guarantee there's been new developments for a lot of characters in both the script and the assets. Otherwise, I'll pick someone at random and ramble, as I do, all while hoping it will be insightful in some small way!
