Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Alpha Build 0.13 Released!

Hiya there, everyone! This is a post I've been looking forward to making for a long, long, LOOOONG while, haha.

As of right now, I'm happy to say that 0.13 has been uploaded--and those on the alpha tier (and those with links from previous months where I may have promised a backdated alpha) should be able to access it with the same link. Let me know if you have any issues accessing it!

I feel perhaps that alpha 0.13 (what a cursed number lol, I should have skipped over it ;~;) is one of the largest I've made thus far, and features:

- 5 new h-scenes across a range of characters. (Technically 4, but 1 scene is hot and heavy enough, with enough voiced lines and CG that I think it can be an honorary h-scene in its own right!)

- A large addition to the main scenario, putting that main story at about 90% complete I think. This is essentially the climax of the main story--and everything else after will be winding down and preparing for the end of the game.

- 2 of the new CGs are voiced right out of the gate

Apologies for going a few days over my last estimate. I knew I was close, because the writing was done, but I greatly underestimated how long some scenes would take to add sprite/CG cues to, and overall it was just a very complex beast with lots of moving parts. I very much appreciated your patience on the matter~

Once I've had a couple of days to rest and recuperate, I'll resume the dev logs, with the first being an overview of the journey to this alpha build in particular, and the troubles/trials I faced with some elements.

I'm both nervous and excited for people to experience the story in this build in particular, because a lot of elements are coming together that I've had in my head since 2016, and I hope I did them justice!

I've done everything I can to test and make sure things don't break, so your alpha experience is as enjoyable as possible, but if by chance something crashes, or the script jumps to places it's not supposed to, let me know and I'll have a fix up as soon as I can! I am very sleep deprived right now, so there's  a chance I missed something incredibly silly or obvious and I apologise in advance if that is the case. 🥴

A scene guide will be up shortly, and will be posted as an offline version alongside the alpha too for those that can't access the Patreon post.

I think I mention this every build, and try to minimise any case of it accidentally happening--but please don't try to use old saves! Especially now that I've shuffled some script files and persistent variables around. Things WILL break if you try to do so, haha.

Finally--a few music and audio cues aren't finalised. I more just put some in to try and fill quiet chunks of time where it didn't fit. Once everything is done, I intend to go back over and add a lot more audio/music at parts. But hey--it's an alpha!

Hiya there! Thanks for your support! As you're a new patron, your pledge has yet to process--so no money has been taken out yet, and won't until the start of the new month. Hiya, It's not you, don't worry. Audio balancing is indeed a bit iffy right now and it's advised to turn music/sounds way down in comparison to the voice levels. I intend to adjust everything in one fell swoop later on--but since I'm still actively adding music tracks, my intention is to avoid having it all mismatched and to wait until everything is ready to be adjusted at once if that makes sense. Apologies, as I know it makes things a bit awkward to adjust each time.

I'm not sure if it's my setup somehow (I'm just running a schiit dac/amp with some beyerdynamics) but the audio mixing is pretty unbalanced on my end. I've got to turn music down to about the last bar in order to even hear the queen in that first scene. And sound effects generally overpower vocals too.
