CHAPTER 3

-

It’s been a week since he got the set of memories, and he had been testing out a lot of shit.

Magic was… Complicated to say the least. He experimented with it and he could confidently say that he had no talent in it at all. Sure, he had a load of magical energy, but what use was it when he couldn’t even create a good fireball?

The amount of effort to create a single magic spell was too much for him. He could only do normal things with his magical energy like setting traps that track targets, to blowing up stuff (He was particularly good at this). The problem was that it wasn’t potent at all.

Hell, even the magic bullets that hit Dohnaseek were weak as shit, they were only used as a surprise, and the explosion upon impact did nothing to his clothing, not even a single scratch on it.

DxD’s human Magic was different from Demonic Magic, the utter opposite of it. If Demonic Magic’s foundations were based on imagination, then human DxD Magic is based on equations and numbers. If he could compare it to his other set of memories, it was like coding in a language worse than Assembly.

One could learn Magic and become a Magician, sure it was easy to get into, but only the talented ones would be remembered and prosper while the rest stagnant and forever forgotten. DxD was a shark eat shark kind of world after all, the strong prey on the weak.

However, he had something that he had some talent in.

He had been experimenting with this Dual Deteriorate of his. And he found out that after using Divide on his physical and magical ability, he noticed something, a small speck of energy that had a different signature to magical energy that had been covered by the high magical energy density.

Scanning through his memories of the DxD world, he finally got a name for this energy. Ki, or best known in the DxD universe as Touki.

He cackled in delight.

Touki, compared to Magic was so much easier to control and manipulate. It wasn’t like Demonic Magic where imagination was the foundation, but it was still so much easier to control than stupid Assembly!

So, for the past 6 days, he had been Boosting the growth of his Touki for every second he was at home. He noted that once he started channelling his Touki, the pool of Ki in his stomach started increasing at a fast rate.

He suspects that this was how Sairaorg managed to learn it to a good degree after training with the Emperor for only a month or two… If his memories are correct.

And boy, does this feel good! Touki basically was the exact copy of Ki from Dragon Ball. With it, he could fly, shoot out Ki Blasts, hell he could even do a Kamehameha… Well, he could do it if he had more Touki.

Seriously, this was amazing! And if he Boosted, he could definitely do more than that! Until his Touki grows, but he’ll get there, he should only take about three months for him to be able to use Touki in combat proficiently.

He was quite confused though, no one in the light novels did such things like him even with Drag-So Ball.

Oh god, don’t get him started with Drag-So Ball. After rewatching the whole series of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, he could 100% say that Drag-So Ball was the shitter baby of abridged Dragon Ball, cause holy cow he would not let any of his enemies watch this shit show.

The governor Azazel should be able to make him remove all memories of that show right? Definitely his first request then, now that he has tasted the forbidden fruit that is Dragon Ball Z Abridged. Too bad they didn’t abridge the Buu Saga, Super Kami Dende was going to be cucked by the daughter of Satan, ironic.

A/N:

This story was drafted a whole long time before the Buu Bits from TeamFourStars came out, and I loved the whole 30 minutes of it. Shit was so good that I almost vomited from laughing too much. Especially the part where Mr. Popp charged the whole Spirit Bomb with only one arm.

*DING DONG~*

Looking up from his bean bag, he huffed groggily before getting up and walking to the door.

“Yes? Oh, Toujou. What’s up?”

“Mhmm.”

She simply raised a book into his field of vision.

“Ah, you want some help in maths? Alright, come in then.”

Letting Toujou into his apartment, he too looked at the state of his apartment.

A simple flat apartment with a living room, 2 room and a small room for the toilet. His living room… was basically his bedroom, with kitchen cabinets, a fridge, and a sink. Normal stuff. No television though, cable itself costs a lot. Besides, why would he want to watch TV when he had YouTube on his phone?

And his first room was… a training room where he does his training. A bench, racks for his bar weights, dumbbells, even a treadmile that he got gifted from Kuoh Middle School Academy a year back for getting first place in the school's annual marathon.

Being a sports scholarship student really helps with the transition.

And his last room was where he kept all his normal belongings, from school books to clothes, a wardrobe room essentially.

Quickly running to his storage room, he grabbed books, stationary, and a foldable table that he bought on sale to his living room.

“So, what’s the problem?”

Flipping to the page where the problem laid, Akira gave out an “Ah, this one” and took a few seconds to think before explaining it to her.

“Well, Toujou — “

“Koneko.”

She said, suddenly asking him to call her by her first name? Right… Not touching that with a foot-long stick.

“Ahem, Toujou, this problem is simple. The whole indices' thing looks confusing, but it’s mostly basic maths that anyone could do. Here, let me show you.”

Thankfully, she didn’t just stare at him forever after denying saying her first name, as she started to do the maths homework that their teacher gave just today. Maybe it’s just him, but it feels weird to suddenly call her by her first name after years of calling her by her surname.

And two hours flew by as he continued to teach the girl about maths, the holiest subject in high school (Fuck you, science) until he noticed that Toujou was looking drowsy. Glancing the time of 10:14 p.m., he started to help her pack her belongings.

“Hey, you really should head back home, it’s already 10.”

Her eyes darted to the clock on the wall, staring at it for a few seconds before nodding.

A few minutes later, they were out in the cold night walking to her home. Of course, he wasn’t going to just let her walk alone, he wasn’t that big of an asshole, so he walked her home. The silence was… Comforting to say the least.

To be frank, he only had 3 friends in total. A governor of a brigade of Fallen Angels who just loves torturing him with experiments and fishing, a battle-junkie who always beat the shit out of him upon making eye-contact, and Toujou Koneko, the silent yet expressive friend.

Two of his friends were already annoying to begin with, so having silence was very relaxing. He understood Ophis for a moment, just a bit.

The Twice Critical Boost mechanic is interesting.

To activate the initial Boost, he had to put magical energy into the gem on the Sacred Gear, about 10% of his max reserves. Once that limit is hit, the magical energy will then Boost his whole body like kickstarting an engine.

After that, stamina will be drained instead of magical energy, the longer the Boost lasts, the more stamina the Sacred Gear takes.

Let’s say he has 100 units of magical energy. He uses 10 to hit the limit of the Sacred Gear, thus activating the Boost. The remaining 90 units will then multiply by 2 to become 180 units.

Now, the mechanic of Dual Deteriorate is much different.

To activate a Divide on a living being, he had to put magical energy equals to 10% of his enemies’ total magic energy reserves. Once the requirements are met, then only will the Divide occur.

Divide reduces the enemies’ strength of physical and magical abilities by half, and then absorb the halved total into the Sacred Gear for him to use.

If he has 100 units of magical energy, then he would use 20 units to Divide himself , from 80 to 40. The 40 will then be added to his total reserves temporarily until he runs out of stamina.

Theoretically, if he used magical energy to explain, and if Dohnaseek from before had a magical energy reserve of 200, and him 100.

Dividing will use 20 units, so his reserves will drop to 80. The Dual Deteriorate will now hold 100 units of magical energy.

Then, he Boosts himself, using 10 units making his reserves 70, while gaining an additional 70 from the Boost, to become 140.

But Boosting is conceptual, meaning he could also Boost the 100 units in the Dual Deteriorate to 200, then he absorbs the energy…

He would get a grand total of 340 units of magical energy. What a powerful combo.

The problem with this technique is the amount of stamina drained. The drain for using Boost from his Twice Critical is minimal, he could hold it for an hour tops before he starts feeling tired. The problem was Divide. It takes so much more energy, he could only hold a Divide for 20 minutes, and he used it on a bird.

The more power is taken from a target, the higher the stamina drain. The fight with Dohnaseek only took a minute while using the Dual Deteriorate’s Divide, and it already made him light-headed.

He strategized to use it only at the last moment before an attack, for maximum damage while using the Divide and minimal drain on his stamina —

He suddenly felt a finger tapping his shoulder. Looking to the left, he watched as Toujou pointed at a sweet bun that was behind a display case.

“This one.”

Right, forgot that he was out with her to get snacks. He looked at the price before his face winced.

“Yeesh, 350 Yen for just one?”

A tug on his shirt.

“You lost the bet.”

Right, the bet of which team would win this week’s basketball game. It was so damn close, 82-91, just a few more points!

“But 350? We can get some sweet buns that are cheaper than this…”

A rougher tug.

“Your chocolate was 370.”

Ah, that was true, his chocolate was delicious too, even if he had to share it with this glutton.

“Nghhhh… Fine, fine.”

In the end, she bought 4 of them, enough for him to get a pizza or a nice burger. His wallet cries in pain, he was crying too. Toujou had the excited look in her eyes as she stared at the freshly baked goods in her hand. His hand reached out into the packaging to at least eat one, only to be swatted away with a glare.

A fist then grabs the back of his shirt as he gets manhandled to a café, making him cry harder at the money he was about to spend. Damn you, random Japanese high school team, just 10 more points and I would have saved money for new bars!
