RWBY: The Boy Named Rin

CHAPTER 20

-

Pyrrha Nikos POV

She has to admit that she looks amazing in this dress. The gray high-neck dress fit her like a second skin, the fabric tracing the curves of her body rather skintight. The long sleeves add a touch of refinement, and the mini length of the dress made her feel a little excited for Rin's reaction in her stomach.

Yang made sure that everyone in JNPR and their sister-team RWBY was well-aware of the red sleeveless dress she planned to wear during the Beacon Dance.

Adding some accessories with black knee-high boots and a touch of makeup with the help of Ren and Jaune of all people (she was very impressed with the skills that her male teammates outdid themselves), she felt confident in every inch of her body.

This would definitely get a reaction from Rin this time; she knew it deep within.

Nora, who had tied her necklace in place, whistled as she gave a rough grin.

"Pyr-baby, you are going to knock people out of their shoes!"

The boys gave their own nods of approval while they continued applying her makeup. A dash of blush, some eyeshadow here, and scarlet red lipsticks the color of her hair.

And it was true, literally. As the whole team walked to the Bullhead stations near Beacon, she felt the whole world staring at her, all the heat of their stares on her. And for the first time since forever, she purposely puffed her chest out and walked with a stride.

Powerful was an understatement, because she felt like she could rule the entire world with her beauty. That, however, came crashing down rather quickly when she was actually in front of Leblanc's door.

Her heart was racing, threatening to jump out of her chest, as Nora opened the door and yelled into the café.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the queen of the castle is here!"

"Nora, no. It's Pyrrha's moment right now."

"Right! Sorry..."

"Evening, guys."

Rin greeted everyone as her eyes wandered. He was wearing his usual outfit of a white shirt that was tucked loosely into a pair of dark gray pants, with a black belt separating both halves of his body. The shirt hung on his body spectacularly, with its sleeves neatly folded upwards, showing the world his sculpted forearm and a slight hint of his buff biceps, while the pants did nothing to hide the muscular legs that his body hid.

She drank the image of his handsomeness into her head, and then her eyes moved.

They locked with Rin's, and her heart almost curled inwards in her chest when she saw his eyes widen slightly at her appearance, his eyes darting around scanning her whole frame before those eyes of his moved back up to meet hers once more, and she swore that she could see a brief moment of fire alight in his eyes.

"Hi."

She managed to squeak a greeting out as Rin took a second to get a response.

"Hey... Wow, you look beautiful tonight, Pyrrha."

She quickly moved to smooth the tails of her hair, twirling the ends with her finger as she sheepishly smiled.

"T-Thanks."

Then Jaune did something shocking.

"Oh, look at the time! I suddenly remember that I have an appointment that needs company!"

He exclaimed, looking at his wrist that's void of a watch, before grabbing both Nora's and Ren's arms. His eyes flashed something to Ren's before Ren understood the assignment and grabbed Nora by her shoulders and started pushing her out of the store. And then Nora got the assignment, and she quickly waved Pyrrha and Rin goodbye.

"SORRY, PYR, IT'S REALLY SUDDEN! WE'LL BE BACK IN A FEW HOURS!"

And they were off, with Nora giggling while being dragged by the other two men in the team... Jaune, you beautiful person, she will remember this and wingman him back when Weiss is being rude!

Rin looked at the three of her teammates before his lips curled upwards, chuckling.

"Your teammates are hilarious, Pyrrha."

Looking at the hour hand that had passed five in the clock, he hummed before giving her a smile.

"Listen, Emerald is out buying some clothes right now, and it's just before dinner. Do you want to... Go out and have a bite? I've been fancying this restaurant's menu for a while now."

Rin asked with some hopefulness in his tone, causing Pyrrha to swallow the saliva built in her throat before breathing out.

"Y-YES! I mean, yes, I'd love that, Rin."

A/N: Round 1 Victor for Rin's heart is Pyrrha Nikos! The first to bring Rin out on a date, no matter how technical and sudden it was!

The dinner went very well, all things considered. Other than the gossiping about her and Rin, it was splendid. They talked quite a lot, from her studies to what Beacon was like as a student. During their conversations, they even touched on his background a little, something that she had little knowledge of!

Who knew that Rin was studying to be a doctor? The change to a barista was rather drastic in her thoughts, but she could see that it was a sensitive topic, so she refrained from asking. Instead, she just enjoyed his company and listening as she poured her heart out. Of the expectations, of the stress accumulated due to the expectations, and of her real thoughts on being a Huntress.

Rin was always a listener first, which she appreciated. She amused herself as they walked back to Leblanc two hours later. The day was already late, and she was feeling a little bit tired from all the shopping earlier.

Her hand was clasped under Rin's as they enjoyed the silence on their walk. She sighed as her head briefly leaned on Rin's shoulder, noting that nothing could possibly go wrong —

The door to Leblanc suddenly burst open as Emerald, wearing a rather scandalous low-cut dress that showed her assets, appeared.

"Rin, since they haven't come yet, would you — "

The harlot's eyes met hers as the admiration in them disappeared, replaced with annoyance.

"You."

Now, she wouldn't admit it out loud, but in her mind, Pyrrha was annoyed too. But she cooled down and smiled, clasping Rin's hand tighter.

"Oh, hello, Emerald. Lovely night, don't you think?"

The forest-green girl twitched her eye when suddenly a familiar voice rang out from a distance.

"Rin!"

Blake ran towards them as it was Pyrrha's turn to twitch her eye. First, Emerald, and now Blake? This was not going as planned  —

Huh. Cat ears. Definitely didn't expect that.

??? POV

Looking at the image of his father in the frame, he couldn't help but stay silent as his mind wandered.

"I knew you'd be here."

The familiar voice of Sojiro Sakura caused him to look to his left, spotting the older man walking towards his family's altar dressed in black. The two met eyes as Sojiro sighed.

"It's been almost 3 weeks since I saw you at the café, and I was a little worried."

A hand suddenly holds his shoulder, and its grip tightens. The instant look of relief on the man's face was shocking to him.

"I... Ahem! I still need my barista after all; the café's understaffed because of someone's alterations to the breakfast and lunch menus."

That caused him to smile weakly at the memory. It was a while ago when he decided to just make a new menu for the breakfast and lunch menus, which were all just curry. Not that Sojiro's curry is bad; it was actually too good. And too much curry intake is bad, especially for the frequent visitors to the café.

His heart then froze a little as he looked at Sojiro. It's... Yeah, he should... Turning his head to look at Sojiro, he took a deep breath.

"... Sorry for the sudden leave. I had to sort things out."

"Perfectly understandable, but you should have left a message or even a sign. You even stopped going to school too; that's something that we need to fix."

"Mhmm."

A comforting silence surrounded them as they paid their respects to the dead.

"Your father was a good man; remember that. Helps out the whole neighborhood with anything they need. He even saved Futaba from the custody of that slimy cousin of hers with those lawyer skills of his; she never really did get the chance to thank him."

Sojiro said suddenly before looking at the picture frame, a somber smile on his face.

Truly. It. Was. Not. Fair.

He could feel his rebellious spirit try to break out from his chest, screaming at the whole world for this transgression of losing such a life, but he reeled it in. This rage was what he still needed for motivation to explore the Palace. With the time limit of only 2 weeks that Evelynn gave him without any explanation, he would have to rush clearing the Palace routes by Monday, 3 days for now.

Fanning the flames of his Persona, urging it to calm down, he simply nodded as they took a moment to say their last prayers before Sojiro invited him out for a drink that the old man still had in the fridge.

As the two walked away from the altar, the camera pans towards the altar itself, with a black and white card underneath the picture frame. A sudden gust caused the picture frame to move slightly, with the card following the gust of wind and reading a short sentence upon flipping to its other side.

["Watch out, World. Your treasures will be Mine."]
