X-OVER: RIP and TEAR, Until IT IS DONE

A/N:
I fell into a DOOM lore rabbit hole and have wanted to make a Multiverse story for so long (Wattpad people, you guys know what's up), so here you go ;)
-
[HELLO!]
[You have finally DIED.]
[Impressive, your score is rather high!]
[Living a grand total of 17 years, 4 months, 23 days, and a few hours, give or take, you've accumulated over 80 years' worth of points!]
[Must be all the good karma you've done, huh?]
[You've reached the threshold of points to be reincarnated, and after entering the multiverse lottery, you've hereby been selected at random to be the next DIMENSION HOPPER!]
[Press START to begin!]
He had been staring at this blue floating box for over 10 minutes, and frankly, he's surprised he's not breaking down and crying at the thought of his early death.
Damn, and his parents just finished paying off the mortgage for the house too. They've always dreamed about clearing it to be able to travel with the family and made plans for it too once they were nearing the finish line.
Hmm, oh well. Traveling is tough for him this year anyway; he has his final year exam to study for and ace.
Ah, sorry. He "had" his final year exam. Dang, now that he's dead, what's going to happen with the ten thousand dollars in his bank account? Hopefully his mom knew the password to his phone—
[Ahem?]
[I apologize, but could you please hurry up? I have about a trillion more guests to cater before linking to you permanently, and my boss already is complaining my slow performance...]
Oh, sorry. Just thinking about his parents. He'll get on with it.
[+1 with █████ for understanding their pain! (2/100)]
Tapping on the bolded START words on the floating screen, another set of floating text screens appeared before him.
[Please enter a NAME : _____________]
David Lee.
[Please enter a NAME : DAVID LEE]
[Are you sure? YES / NO]
Yes, please. There was no need to change his name to a new one. And admittedly his naming sense was not the greatest, as said by his father.
[Rather surprising, usually guests that interact with the System would change their names to something edgy or anime-sounding.]
[I would like to ask again, are you sure? Because all background documents provided by the System will use this name.]
Yes, definitely.
[Very well, then. Let's move on, Mr. David.]
[+1 with █████ for making their job easier! (3/100)]
No problem, Mister or Missus Screen.
[Next up will be to select your race.]
[Press HERE to randomly select your race for the forseen future.]
He did as he was told and pressed the large, bolded HERE text. There wasn't any prompt or flickering, just silence until the Mister or Missus spoke again.
[Race selected : TRANSCENDENT HUMAN (DOOM)]
[You have gained Class : SLAYER (1/100) — Grants +3 STR, DEX, and END per LEVEL UP]
[You have gained Perk : SLAYER'S STRENGTH — Grants +2 STR per LEVEL UP ]
[You have gained Perk : SLAYER'S MOVEMENT — Grants +2 DEX per LEVEL UP ]
[You have gained Perk : SLAYER'S DEFENSES — Grants +2 END per LEVEL UP ]
[You have gained Perk : SLAYER'S COMBAT — Grants Skill : WEAPON MASTER (1/100) and COMBAT EXPERT (1/100)]
[Mister, you lucky person! You've hit the jackpot!]
Uh... What? DOOM sounded familiar, but he can't recall where it's from.
[B-But how? You're an addict to games and media!]
He's not that addicted, as many might think, OK? He only played games when the boys came online. The rest of the time, he's just chilling to music or watching cooking videos.
[Sigh, fine. Let's move on with your STATUS PAGE!]
[Class: SLAYER]
[HP : 100/100 (10 HP/Hour) — END X 10 — ]
[SP: 50/50 (10 SP/Hour) — WIS X 1]
[LVL : 1 (0/100) — 0 AP]
[STR : 10]
[DEX: 10]
[END: 10]
[INT : 10]
[WIS : 10]
[CHA : 10]
[LUK : 10]
[This is a page to represent your status!]
[From top to bottom, you can see your Class, Health Points and Strain Points, Level, and Attributes.]
[You can gain Experience Points by doing various things, and upon a LEVEL UP, you can gain 3 Attribute Points to be allocated!]
Hmm, noted. This is like the same system in Baldur's Gate where you can allocate points to stats. Anything else, Mister or Missus?
[You may call me Tova.]
[A little more to go, Mr. David.]
[You have gained Skill : GLORY KILL (1/100) — Finish off an enemy with 5% or less HP in the most brutal, berserk-like fashion to heal either 1% of HP or 20% of SP randomly.]
[You have gained Skill : WEAPON MASTER (1/100) — Grants knowledge of any weapon in your hands and +1% DMG to all Weapons in combat.]
[You have gained Skill : COMBAT EXPERT (1/100) — Grants knowledge of an enemy's weakness in combat and +0.2% EXP GAIN in combat.]
[You have gained Skill : MAINTENANCE (1/100) — Grants knowledge of maintaining and fixing equipment and +1% chance to fully fix the durability of equipment.]
[You have gained Skill : OBSERVE (1/100) — Grants knowledge of a target's information.]
This SLAYER Class is rather combat-oriented, isn't it? Speaking of which, you said that he received a DIMENSION HOPPER System? What does it do?
[It does exactly as advertised, Mr. David.]
[By clearing special missions issued by me, you can gain World Tickets of various Tiers that allow you to traverse through fictional dimensions.]
Following up on his question, which dimension exactly was he going to?
[Well, we don't usually tell you where you're going, but since you're stuck with me, I'll give you a heads-up. We're going to one of the many universes of Highschool of the Dead!]
[A perfect location as your first universe in my opinion, more so with your class!]
... Man, he should really keep up with the latest anime, he had no idea where he was going.
[But it's not new at all! 2010 was almost 15 years ago at your time of death!]
Well, he's going in blind then. But thanks for the information, Tova.
[+2 with ██ TOVA ██ for being so kind! (5/100)]
[No problemo, David! I hope you don't mind me calling you that; we're going to be together for a long time!]
Yeah, no problems at all, Tova. Cheers to a great friendship.
[I have a beer to my side, so cheers!]
Hng, what does beer even taste like? Never got the chance to have a sip of it.
[I'll treat you to some when I get the chance.]
[Now, the only thing left is for you to test out the Dungeon mechanic that comes with the DIMENSION HOPPER System.]
[The Dungeon can only be entered once a week with randomized monsters based on your LVL and experience.]
[They are optional, but the rewards for clearing or attempting to clear it can be useful!]
[I'll drop you into one in ten seconds, so prepare yourself! You got this, though!]
Nice heads-up. Watching a countdown drop from 10 seconds, he took a deep breath before his mind cleared.
[10]

[5]
[4]
OK, it's time to lock in.

[Welcome to the System, Player DAVID LEE.]
[Good luck, David!]
And then, his world suddenly turns black.
=
=
=
It lasted for a single second, though, as his vision recovered instantly. Looking around, he sat up from the ground as he scanned the area.
A cave? Very fantasy-like.
This was a Dungeon, no? That meant that he was going to be fighting. So, he quickly stretched his muscles before starting his trek through the caves.
It wasn't illuminated clearly. Due to that, his field of vision was very limited. Therefore, he recalled the Skill that he saw earlier.
How does he use this Observe Skill?
[Simply think about using the skill, and make sure that there's a target for the Skill.]
Oh, Tova, you're here?
[Yup! I'm done with all my assignments! I'm going to be with you from now on.]
[Oh, and here you go...]
[Main Quest started.]
[Weekly Dungeon Clear — Difficulty : Easy (LVL 1 ~ 10)
| "Your first quest! Make it count!" |
Objective : Kill all enemies in the Dungeon
Reward : Civilization Starter Pack, Random Common-Tier Equipment]
[By the way, the Tiers from loot and rewards generated by the System are Common < Uncommon < Rare < Unique < Legendary < Mythical.]
That's good to know. Wait, can you tell what's in front of him? It's hard to see in this place.
[Sure! There's a Minimap feature that I can turn on; give me a second...]
Exactly a second later, a small map in a circle appeared in the bottom left corner of his vision, with a green and blue bar at the top left corner.
[I turned on all your HUDs available, since it would be easier for you to manage your resources. The Minimap isn't all omnipotent however, it only records the structure of the layout based on your vision.]
Yes, now that he squinted, it seemed like the map only recorded new information as his eyes could see. But the good news was that, even though it was hard to see in the darkness, it still counted as the map updated in the pitch-black.
Ah, the map can be enlarged with just a thought. Seriously, what a useful System.
Continuing his trip through the cave, he started to notice unusual things that littered the caves. Cloth, burnt wooden torches, bits and pieces of civilization...
He took a usable wooden torch as a weapon, just in case.
[OBSERVE activated]
[Weapon : Burnt Wooden Torch (8%) — A wooden stick that had already burnt its durability away.]
[DMG Potential : 1 ~ 10 HP]
His eyes flickered from his front to the Minimap to get an advantage of his limited vision when the map suddenly pulsed a red dot.
[10 feet forward!]
His eyes widened as he heard something coming towards him at fast speeds. He dodged out of the way just as a small rock missed him.
Estimating his eyesight on the red dot that grew closer by the second, he used the Observe Skill on the target.
[OBSERVE activated]
[LVL 3 Goblin (100%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
The word ENEMY through the Observe Skill caused his mind to clear up as knowledge of its weaknesses flowed into his head in a nanosecond.
[COMBAT EXPERT activated]
[Goblin Weakness : Low Intelligence, Short Reach, Small Size — Weak Points : Eyes, Solar Plexus, Groin]
The wooden torch in his hands suddenly felt lighter as another set of knowledge comprised of blunt weapons entered his head.
[WEAPON MASTER activated]
His body subconsciously moved into a stance with the wooden torch being held in a baseball stance.
Seeing that its attack missed, the Goblin sneered at him before whipping out a short, jagged knife.
[OBSERVE activated]
[Weapon : Makeshift Knife (13%) — Jagged knife made by sharpening a fellow Goblin's rib bone.]
[DMG Potential : 1 ~ 20 HP]
Cackling with a demented tone, the Goblin dash towards him with his knife raised. The little thing was fast, but he could perceive its movements.
Waiting for the last moment, he sidestepped the lunge, letting the Goblin move past him as David used its own momentum against the beast as he slammed the torch onto its head, hard.
A loud "thwack" echoed in the cave as it dropped to the ground in pain. Using Observe again, David narrowed his eyes.
[OBSERVE activated]
[LVL 3 Goblin (84%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
While it was still on the ground, clutching its head in pain, he quickly planted a foot on the back of the Goblin to stop it from getting up before raising the wooden torch.
He then proceeded to smash his weapon onto the Goblin's head into the ground. A dozen or so blows to the head later, what remained was a broken wooden torch and a monster with 2% of his health remaining.
[OBSERVE activated]
[Weapon : Broken Burnt Wooden Torch (0%) — A broken wooden stick that had already burnt its durability away.]
[LVL 3 Weakened Goblin (2%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
Tossing the torch away, David decided to just deal with it using his limbs. Raising his other leg, he rammed his foot down onto its head.
The sound of squelching was all he could hear as his foot broke through its skull and mushed its brain into a paste.
[GLORY KILL activated]
[You have gained +10 HP]
[You have killed an enemy and gained 30 Experience Points!]
He kicked the air to get rid of the blood that clung to his foot as he took in the fact that he had killed for the first time. Most would feel revolted; yet, he felt nothing.
No, actually... There's this weird, unadulterated rage that was building within him; he had to reel it in before he saw red.
[Actually, it's because of a hidden Perk that you've just gained for killing an enemy for the first time.]
[You have gained Hidden Perk : INDOMITABLE RAGE — Grants Unique Skill : Berserk (1/10)
| "Your Rage and Hatred against those who stand in your way will never allow you to die peacefully." |]
[You have gained Unique Skill : BERSERK (1/10) — Costs 10 SP per Minute; +STR, DEX, and END X 5
| "Against all the evil that hell can conjure, all the wickedness that mankind can produce. We'll send unto them, only you... RIP AND TEAR, UNTIL IT IS DONE." |]
Creepy flavor text, but he digs it.
Looting the corpse, he took the bone-made knife from the dead body and inspected it briefly. Not sharp enough to slash, but enough to stab and jab with. The reach is minimal at best, but he can work with this thing.
At least it'd be much better than the wooden torch.
[More enemy signatures ahead. Enemy-designated hostility!]
Looking at the map again, he noted the three red dots that were coming straight at him as he used Observe on them.
[OBSERVE activated]
[LVL 2 Goblin A (100%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
[Weapon : Unarmed]
[DMG Potential : 1 ~ 10 HP]
[LVL 3 Goblin B (100%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
[Weapon : Makeshift Shortsword (48%) — Jagged blade made by sharpening a fellow Goblin's femur bone.]
[DMG Potential : 10 ~ 30 HP]
[LVL 5 Goblin C (100%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
[Weapon : Makeshift Flail (78%) — Jagged whip made by reinforcing a fellow Goblin's spine and skull.]
[DMG Potential : 10 ~ 20 HP]
[COMBAT EXPERT activated]
[WEAPON MASTER activated]
Seeing the Goblins send another wave of hot, red anger through his veins. Well, this was the perfect time to test out his new Skill. With a deep breath, he adjusted his grip on the makeshift knife before activating Berserk with a single thought.
[BERSERK activated]
{STR : 10 → 50}
{DEX : 10 → 50}
{END : 10 → 50}
In an instant, the world seemingly slowed down.
And his rage screams at him to RIP AND TEAR!
His body moved on its own, charging at the three Goblins. With the knife, he did easy work on the first Goblin in his sight, plunging the bone-made blade into the skull of the unarmed Goblin before they could even react.
Then, letting go of the knife still lodged in the dying Goblin A, he swung his left wrist back to backhand the one holding onto the shortsword.
His fist gorged through the skull of the Goblin like butter, cracking its skull open and sending blood and brain matter all over his face and body. The rage within him stilled for a moment as he looked surprised at his strength, but it was only for a moment before it screamed at him once more.
Still in the twisting motion of the backhand, he spun and lunged at the final Goblin who slowly registered the deaths of its two comrades. With a single leap, he reached the monster, who tried to flail its weapon towards him, but David was simply too fast with his stats, ducking the swing with ease as he crouched down.
With his right fist cocked, he used all his strength to rise up, smashing and cleaving through its whole head with a devastating uppercut to the chin. Blood dripped down his face, but he remained still-hearted as he looked around the carnage that he caused.
{50/50 SP → 40/50 SP}
[GLORY KILL activated]
[You have gained +50HP and +10 SP]
{40/50 SP → 50/50 SP}
[You have killed 3 enemies and gained 100 Experience Points!]
[You've leveled up from LVL 1 → 2! (30/200)]
[BERSERK deactivated.]
[Hostiles down, great work, David!]
He wiped the blood of the Goblins off his face with his shirt as he grabbed the shortsword from Goblin B's corpse. He didn't think that it was that easy.
[Even at Level 5, the Goblin Race can't outstat you, especially when you powered up into your new Berserk state; your stats were about 10 times theirs.]
[Also, I recommend putting those attribute points to good use now; they may come in handy when you fight the Boss.]
Noted. Bring up the Status Page, please.

Wait, what's the normal amount of stats a normal person has in this Highschool of the Dead universe?
[About 10 for normal people, 20 for athletic individuals. The talented ones could range from 20 ~ 40.]
That's... surprisingly low. Given his current stats and the considered level-ups that could be gained in this dungeon alone...
Isn't he a bit too strong?
[Don't worry so much, David. You'll be tested real good once I drop you there.]
That was ominous. Anyways, he'll just keep on going. With his new stats plus Berserk, he should clear this relatively easily.
=
=
=
And so he did. He leveled up one more time while following the cave's straight route, killing the little Goblins easily with a single strike.
Again, he allocated one AP each to his main stats.

Soon, he finally reached a large double door. He asked Tova about the random door in the way, to which she answered.
[This is the Boss Room.]
[Careful, it's harder than the normal Goblins you've faced; Boss Monsters have a 10x multiplier compared to their normal counterparts.]
Noted. He'll go all out to kill it. In his current arsenal, he picked up a few more knives from the dead Goblins as his method of long-range combat, while the main weaponry in close combat is the shortsword that he looted from the earlier Goblin.
He also came across a wooden shield lying around the area, so he equipped it to his off-hand as a precaution.
With everything ready, he pushed the double doors open.
[Entering Boss Room...]
The room was much different from the cave layout. It was as if he was transported to a dimly lit temple instead of being in a cave.
In the middle of the room was a large Goblin the size of a gorilla, standing at about 3 feet tall. It partially wore armor at areas that were vital, but other than the loincloth that covered its groin and plated shoes, it was naked.
Noticing him, the large Goblin sneered as it reached behind its back to reveal a long, worn-out buster sword that was as tall as its own body. A swing from the large weapon blew gusts of wind towards him as he Observed the Boss.
[OBSERVE activated]
[LVL 10 BOSS Goblin King (100%) — Hostility : ENEMY]
[Weapon : Bloodied Buster-Sword (39%) — Using its high intelligence for its race, it forged its masterpiece that had slew countless of its kind and others to deem itself as King of this cave.]
[DMG Potential : 150 ~ 300 HP]
The damage that the weapon can inflict would be devastating if he took it head-on, so he quietly readied himself as the Goblin King charged at him with a roar.
[COMBAT EXPERT activated]
[Goblin Weakness : Slow Speed, Large Size — Weak Points : Eyes, Solar Plexus, Groin, Legs]
[WEAPON MASTER activated]
[BERSERK activated]
{STR : 22 → 110}
{DEX: 22 → 110}
{END: 22 → 110}
{220/220 HP → 1100/1100 HP}
The boost from Berserk was intense; his whole body felt like it dipped into a pit of lava as David blitzed through the air.
Surprisingly, the Goblin King was able to react to his speed as it used its leg to smash the ground, causing the whole floor to shake.
He almost lost his balance from going too fast on unstable ground but caught himself just in time as the large buster sword swung towards him in a horizontal slash.
He ducked under the sword, grabbing the multiple knives in his pocket before tossing them at full power towards the King's eyes.
Involuntarily, it closed its eyes as it covered its face to protect them from the knives, creating an opening for David as he lunged at the King's feet.
Specifically, its Achilles tendons.
Reaching under the Goblin King, he hacked and slashed at its weak point... Only a few shallow cuts were made before he had to move out of the way as the King slammed its foot onto the ground to try and flatten him.
David looked at his shortsword and Observed it before clicking his tongue.
The weapon did too little damage. He needed to find a way to do more than just 30 HP per strike.
He rolled out of the way to avoid the overhead swing of the buster sword. Looking at the sword in the King's hand, he grinned at the perfect weapon to solve all his problems.
{50/50 SP → 40/50 SP}
The speed of its reaction time was fast, but due to its larger body, its speed to execute its moves was slower than his own dexterity.
Using it to his advantage, he purposefully slowed down for it to use its large overhead swing once more.
After dodging the various horizontal slashes, it finally got annoyed as it started to raise the buster sword up high.
David quickly took out another knife from his pocket and held both the knife and shortsword in a reverse grip as he prepared himself.
He dodged the overhead swing of the Goblin King at the last minute with a side-step, the impact from the attack shattering the concrete ground.
The disadvantage of a powerful overhead swing was that it took a while to recover your stance back!
With his high stats, he jumped as high as he could, reaching its hands. Clenching the hilts of his two weapons, he gave out a yell as he plunged both blades into the Goblin King's wrist. The weapons gorged into the soft flesh, enough to let him hop down the arm to slice downwards that created a large slit wound as he dropped to the ground.
A pool of blood drenched his whole body as it cried out in pain, clutching its wound and stepped a few steps back with the buster sword dropping out of its grasps, landing on the ground.
Now that its guard was down, he quickly ran towards the buster sword and grabbed it by its handle. His hands were too small to fully wrap around it, so he settled with crushing the handle with his fingers to create access points to hold onto the weapon easily.
Huffing with exertion, David lifted the 3-foot-long buster sword up into the air.
The look of panic in the eyes of the Goblin King was all he needed as he ran up to the monster and brought the sword downwards at its shoulder blade.
{40/50 SP → 30/50 SP}
The blade met resistance, but he simply increased his strength as he pushed, eventually slicing past its shoulder and through its spine before exiting out from its hip. A loud "Clang" echoed as the sword tip touched the ground, and he looked up.
The Goblin King stood still, unresponsive, when the top half of its body started to slide down, blood dripping from the now-clear mark where the buster sword cleaved through before the half fell to the ground, organs spilling out with the lower half of its body still upright in front of him.
[GLORY KILL activated]
[You have gained +10 SP]
{30/50 SP → 40/50 SP}
[You have killed a Boss and gained 500 Experience Points!]
[You've leveled up from LVL 3 → 4! (250/400)]
[BERSERK deactivated]
The strength and anger that he had within his body in the two minutes of fighting faded away at the sight of the Goblin King's defeat as he frowned.
That was... much more manageable than he expected.
[Honestly, this Boss was supposed to tough for newbies so that any arrogance would be wiped instantly.]
[Hmm, at least you're not showing any signs of overconfidence.]
[I guess you're just that guy.]
[Regardless, congrats David! First Boss down!]
[Main Quest COMPLETED.]
[Weekly Dungeon Clear — Difficulty : Easy (LVL 1 ~ 10)
| "Your first quest! Make it count!" |
Objective : Kill all enemies in the Dungeon (DONE)
Reward : Civilization Starter Pack, Random Common-Tier Equipment]
Instantly after the Quest was deemed complete, he felt some objects enter his pockets, so he took a look at them.
A wallet filled with cash, an identification card, a debit card, a paper note with an address typed in, and coins. Hey, they were Japanese, yet he could read them.
[The Civilization Starter Pack gives languages too! You're now fluent in all forms of Japanese!]
[You have gained Language : JAPANESE — Grants fluent Japanese proficiency.]
Neat. And the Random Equipment?
[Yep, just give me one second...]
[You have received Equipment : Light Suit (TRON)]
[OBSERVE activated]
[Equipment : Light Suit (TRON) (100%) — Futuristic armor worn by programs in the digital universe.]
[DEF Resistance : 30]
What does this DEF Resistance do?
[The armor can resist damage that you take based on what's listed.]
[If, hypothetically, an attack of 40 points of damage comes at you. The armor will receive the damage, reducing it to 10.]
That's really good. So he waited...
Where's the suit?
[Oh, it's in your Inventory.]
He had an Inventory?
[Didn't I tell you?]
No?
[Huh. Anyways, just think about it, and the screen will appear.]
[INVENTORY]
[EQUIPMENT]
Light Suit (TRON) (100%) — Futuristic armor worn by Programs in the digital universe.]
How does he equip this?
[Anything in the Inventory, just think of its use. I'll handle the rest.]
Nice. Tova, where's my supersuit?
[Pfft, you're old.]
A nanosecond later, his vision turns black. Not because of any attacks or dangers, but because he was now wearing a helmet.
Patting his body, he now felt that a bodysuit was around him. Reaching for the helmet, Tova told him to twist and pull to unlock it from its latch.
He did so and heard hissing before he was able to remove the helmet from the suit. His first instinct was to look at the helmet.
Very futuristic and black. It had the shape of a motorcycle helmet, and there were dimmed-out streaks that looked like led-strips at the side of the helmet.
He then looked at the bodysuit that adorned his body. The same shade of black as his helmet, and had the same led-strips that were fitted across the body suit like circuit lines, but they were glowing a hue of dark green.
The strips on the helmet most likely glowed when it was connected to the suit, he presumed.
He ran his fingers across the suit; it felt almost like leather, but the texture resembled latex. And it felt very durable.

What? You didn't even inform him about this—!
Before he could finish, a bright light shone from his body as it soon disappeared into thin air, leaving motes of white dots behind that slowly faded away.
