What I’ve been up to

In case lovelies would like to know what I’ve been up to in my spare time/trying to make time. We have been updating our house to be a space that is fully of our design. After we moved in COVID hit and we sort of was just happy with owning our own home, doing my studio so I have a space if I need to do hairdressing for work (at the time hairdressers were allowed to stay open for work) etc. so I love my studio ( still need to update some things though.) but our bedroom has been a dark blue colour. Not the worst but it wasn’t what we would like for our bedroom. So we are now finally changing the space to be a place we can really feel like ours.

One big task (I didn’t think would be big but turns out redoing antique furniture is hard) is this dresser. Initially I refurbed a cheap used dresser but I think we need something different. So I bought an antique dresser on marketplace, starting to strip it so it can be a more natural finish and omg… I think my arms and shoulder are going to be so buff… here’s the progress so far 🤗🤗 I still have so much sanding to do. I tried paint stripper but holy moly that chemical is a BEAST. So I have 7 drawers to do, reconstruct 2 back legs, polish all the hardware, patch the split that runs all through the piece, sand some more then finally I think would be staining/sealing it all. 🫠🫠

I definitely didn’t realised the mammoth undertaking this dresser alone will take but I’m so proud of how it’s looking so far and I can’t wait for it to be a piece we keep forever and hopefully pass down to our kids some day. ❤️

What do you think? Are you doing any big projects at the moment? Whether it’s renovating, redoing furniture, knitting, art? I’d love to know!! ❤️❤️

I can't wait til its done lol. And omg I haven't finished the one book I've been trying to read since I bought it in korea lol...I just have so many other things I'm trying to do, reading has taken a back seat T_T

it's taking soooo long T_T doesn't help we don't have all the tools so doing everything by hand saw and trying to source products is hard. Especially it seems like Australia doesn't have a lot of good wood working products that you can find easily and alot of american products aren't shipped to aus or sold here so it's been hard to find things. definitely finding paint colours is hard. But I sort of go with what vibe I want a space, or style and see what colour suits...I'll post my bathroom redo so you can see what I did there but the bedroom was a hard colour to pick. But going with the vibe you want then maybe taking a photo of your room and photoshopping the paint colour so you can get an idea of the space is really helpful too. I think I modelled all our reno spaces like that to see the colour

Those types of projects are so much work! I've redone kitchen cabinets before, it took more than a summer, the cleaning and fixing was the worst part. But when you see your finished product I am sure you will be very proud, its a nice sense of accomplishment! I currently need to paint my bedroom also, and my office/spare room. I moved into a place with all yellow bedrooms and bathrooms, not my favorite. I can't pick out the shade I want, so I havent done it yet, the bathrooms were easier to pick out. Do you have the same problem? Or did you know the color you wanted right away? Good luck with the projects! Also, thanks, I love people sharing what they are working on. Happy New year!
