I agree, it's such a weird dynamic between them. You don't get "romance" per say, but intrigue, need, longing, and love but not like attractive love. Altho, from her end you get some typical crush moments and she tends to lean toward idealized romantic fantasy. He is absolutely besotted with her as this fascinating creature and she def pulls out all the protective instincts and the compassion and deep concern type of love. The attractive stuff tip toes at the edges but it's not the focus. I love the amalgamation of emotions they both manage to convey. SOOOOO multi layered and somehow they manage to make it all make sense.

2025-04-09 23:09:02 +0000 UTCKim Go Eun was 25/26 during the airing of Goblin. She's 33 now and she was playing a character who was between 18 and 19 years old at the beginning. Gong Yoo would have been 36 or so when it was filmed, he's 45 now, so there is a gap of 11 1/2 years or so. It just feels so much larger because of how sweet and childlike she played. I had to remind myself that she is adult PLAYING an adult who even tho she is in high school is of legal age in the drama. Supernatural suspension of disbelief got the through a lot of the initial squidgy moments. Along with the understanding that even with his vast life experience imbalance, he is also someone who is unfamiliar with love/this situation and just as confused as she is overall. The dynamic between them is fascinating to me. I used to get Kim Go Eun confused with Park So Dam (Record of Youth, Parasite), but they're both so lovely.

2025-04-09 22:27:14 +0000 UTCThat’s one of my favorite lines in any k-drama. The idea of him saying where could there be sadness or love that could last for a thousand years. Her saying that a sad love could always hit so hard especially in this show.
