It's not a matter of pleasing or displeasing... I don't necessarily like all the comments, but I don't delete them for that reason. I believe that feedback and criticism are necessary to move forward, but they must be expressed constructively, without aggression and without referring to illegal or unauthorized distribution methods, as some contributors have done below. In any case, I sincerely thank you for your past support.

2024-10-04 05:18:22 +0000 UTCI complained about the held back download and got my comment deleted because it [quote on] "provides information on how to distribute my work illegally" [quote off] by mentioning a technique / tool that every 10 year old Minecraft streamer knows about. I wasn't expecting a reaction on my comment at all. The one I got was even more off putting than the issue of the held back download, that I complained about in the first place. I feel like a kid being scolded for speaking ill against it's parents. Very nice way to treat the people that decide to NOT get the content from pirate sites but to support the creator. Feel free to implement any additional "copyright measures" without me. I'm canceling my membership now. Edit: feel free to delete this comment to, if it displeases you.

2024-10-02 19:37:19 +0000 UTCHow did you get inflammatory out of my comment? All I said was that I like the original version better. If I have to list reasons for liking/disliking a video to please other people, gonna be waiting a LONG time for that.

2024-10-02 17:50:07 +0000 UTCCan you recommend any other anti-piracy measures that would work for you? Because truthfully, this is a tale as old as time. You provide product, pirates do their thing. You do anti-piracy, pirates figure out how to circumvent and then some customers become alienated due to 'inconviences' (I understand generally speaking some measures when it comes to anti-piracy have been more onerous than others) and creator is, as the old saying goes 'Damned if they do, Damned if they don't.'.

2024-10-02 17:47:59 +0000 UTCAlright. What happens when you join after a movie is released? Will all future movies be lost as downloads for new arrivals? That will definitely make people seek out pirated versions imo.

2024-10-02 16:12:18 +0000 UTCIt would be useful if you gave any kind of reason at all, or else it looks like you're just being inflammatory on purpose

2024-10-02 13:10:00 +0000 UTCOrdinarily, I'd just give here my impressions regarding the merits of the new video release itself, but I'd rather share some thoughts instead, for what they're worth. I joined Nick's Patreon because I was impressed from the start by the quality of the visual (be it the animation or the character design) and narrative experience, unlike any other. It took me some time to join, not because I didn't want to spend the small bucks (basically, the cost is the same as the one for the purchase of a DVD, the collector edition always being a little more expensive in exchange for extra contents, the regular edition being more affordable while providing the core of the entertainment), but for the down-to-earth reason that I was in search of a secure enough payment method allowing the repeated operations required by a subscription (it may sound silly, but here it is). In the meantime, I was unsatisfied by the situation, knowing fully well that the lack of enough financial incentive could mean the waning of Nick's dedication to creating new contents. Besides there was some shame/guilt in getting an illegitimate access to what had taken time and talent to be produced. Like many, if not all, of us, I have a job, with its demands, and I myself wouldn't agree on being ripped from my fair wages while sweating for them. So I was particularly upset when I learned of Nick's burnout experience on NM. What I had dreaded had actually occured and there was actually no more contents to be expected from him, ever. Then, as sometimes a good turn of events can happen, Nick came back after a long while. And he produced again. And his new works were even more breathtaking and refined than before. And I am truly indebted to all among us who were already supporting him at the time : without you, so much would have never been released. That's why, when I eventually found a way to subscribe to Nick's Patreon, I was beside myself with satisfaction... and I've kept that way since. The way I see things, we're not at Walmart or Sears : we pledge not only a little money, collectively doing wonders by being transmuted into new adult animations and stories, but also a moral support to the artist. Not only tennis or football players require moral support to perform better. We give and we get : it's a fair deal. If we look at it fairly, we all give a little and we get much, because each artistic work is unique, and the World would not be the same without it. Of course, there are works that are my favourite, others that I may care a little less for, while knowing that these, however, cater to others among us and that everyone deserves his/her own place under the sun. But, at the end of the day, I know that repeated times in the course of a year, I'll benefit from wonderful new creations. And that's why I keep helping fund Nick's Patreon. And that's why I try, from time to time, to post a little well-deserved 'thumb-up' message, so as to provide my little, unexpensive share of moral support. I've read that the 'RedHead Redemption' remake was not deemed an actual 'new release' and thus that we should not be requested to take part into its funding. But I've never heard of movie theaters granting free access to the re-release of such works as Fantasia or Star Wars (Episodes IV to VI) in the late 1990s, early 2000s. I've never heard of Sega giving away Megadrive cartridges or Switch cards for the re-releases of Phantasy Star, as if they were freebies. And not only did nobody complain, but many enjoyed the opportunity for these re-releases. What is the message there ? 'We don't care about your providing updated versions of your past works' ? 'We are interested in your sweating for updating and re-releasing your past works but we don't want to throw the small bucks' ? Because, if such releases mean Nick being criticized instead of being thanked for, giving-up on such upgrades of past works is what it will logically and ultimately lead to. Is this what we want ? I've read passionate posts stating that getting access to a 480p streaming version (you know, just as what we get on Netflix and are willingly paying for) of this new release, prior to the release of an anti-piracy HQ downloadable file, was supposed to be harmful to us. I wonder why I've not read more often, on one website or the other, such outbursts of wrath and moral condemnation towards those who repeatedly rob Nick of both the moral and financial property of his works. Whereas it may appear that they 'only' steal from Nick, they actually harm all of us, because they undermine the financial backing of Nick creation, thus his ability to safely renounce his IRL job and fully dedicate himself to creating new Patreon contents in the long run. I, and I know I'm far from being the only one here, welcome Nick's endeavour to protect his work. If he can pin down the leakers here while doing so, it's a really appreciated achievement in my book. Of course, I'd rather not have to wait a couple of weeks to get the downloadable file. Of course, I'd rather pay no taxes while benefiting from public services. But, in a real life, all things have a cost, and those are the leakers, not Nick, who have set the price here ; those are the thugs, not the policemen, who are responsible for us paying the wages of the latter. I congratulate (and thank) you if you've read this post so far, and I apologize for its length. I believe, however, that I'm not the only one thinking the thoughts I've tried to, probably clumsily, express here. You may not find the time to post here yourself, so I thought maybe it would be worth it if I took the time to provide a way for your own positive point of view to be taken into account and put to the attention of Nick, because it's not 'only' about financial backing : it's also about being humane and civil towards each other. Have a nice day in any event !

2024-10-02 03:54:23 +0000 UTCWell, the original WAS good, indeed. And it means that the two videos are actually and obviously different, hence that the newer one is an actual new release in its own right...

2024-10-01 21:16:35 +0000 UTC@nobody333 : is having to wait a couple of weeks for downloading the file so harmful ? As for questionable methods, what about the repeated leaking of Nick's works in the past : should the blame not be put on the actual people responsible for such a situation ? Given the choice, don't we think that it woud be a hundred times more satisfying for Nick not to have to spend time, energy and loss of morale (the necessary result of unfair criticism) into trying to fight piracy all alone ? Let's face it : there are patrons among us responsible for this situation (the leaking is necessary coming from one or several among us) and for undermining Nick's productions. What will happen if those leakers can't be thwarted one way or the other is that, eventually, no one among us will ever be able to watch any new NCP videos anymore, be it on a PC small screen, on a Kodi big screen or anywhere on the sky vault...

2024-10-01 21:12:37 +0000 UTCTrust me, I'm really looking for alternatives and it is really driving me crazy. As for the second part of your comment, I find it inappropriate since a ton of content is being released this month to complement the video, precisely because it's "just" a remaster.

2024-10-01 21:12:27 +0000 UTCReading the answer given to 'Puck of Earth', we'll get a download link in a couple of weeks, so we'll eventually be able to get the file as usual. In the meantime, we can enjoy the streaming version. As a pledger, I regret as well as you do that there is this little inconvenience for us patrons, but the actual culprits are the leakers, not an artist trying to prevent his work from being shamelessly pillaged. As for this new video being charged on a par with any other new release, Nick let us know quite a while ago that it would be so, so there's no surprise there. Besides, the previous remakes had all been for free, so I guess it's not as if the deal was unfair when charged once in a while for videos that clearly consume, as you grant it, time to achieve. And it's not as if Nick was cheap regarding the release of additional contents beside the video. All things considered, maybe some feedbacks as to the pros and cons regarding the changes brought by this new video compared to the original would be more beneficial to us all, what with promising new releases expected in a nearing future...

2024-10-01 20:56:45 +0000 UTCYou will only be billed twice if you cancel and then renew your membership (new billing system). But if you keep your current pledge you'll get a DL link in the coming weeks without having to pay more. I hope I'm clear enough and apologize for the inconvenience.

2024-10-01 20:28:20 +0000 UTCWell it will be released as a download at a certain point from what I understand. My question was to which month of support will be tied? Since the movies come out on the last of the month and I get billed on the first of the month it seems to me I'm gonna get billed twice for actually getting the download.

2024-10-01 19:39:04 +0000 UTCI really like your job, it is the reason why I am a subscriber. But anti-piracy measure must not deserve your subsidizers. I well understand that you have to protect your work but it can not be against the way we want to manage, use or/and save your video. More over, it is a remastered video, and I think that this as to be considered as a bonus and not a new release, even if you certainly take some precious time to do it.

2024-10-01 19:36:38 +0000 UTCNo, genuinely asking. If this video is available at the end of September, and someone supported for September, but decided to drop support in October before you send the link, does that person get the link or not? Is the download linked to supporting in the month the movie comes out or do we have to pay extra to get the download? Conversely will you send links to anyone that joins after September ends, but before you send the links? Seems like you would get charged extra to get the dwn link.
