Progress update for v0.8.5 & Deadline
Added 2025-05-02 04:13:15 +0000 UTC Hello again!! The next update is going along nicely so far, though there is at least one hiccup along the way. FIrst things first: The day the update is out will be on the 20th of May. I'm giving myself a bit of extra time to work on this update, as the usual update cycle (one update every 45 days) unfortunately lines up on the same week as my final exams. Thankfully, this is my LAST semester of Uni before I graduate, so my schoolwork should never be an issue in the future!
As for the actual progress, I've been working on implementing Rath, including his pred scenes, I'm working on adding a proper plotline, as well as introducing a brand new character AND antagonist: Duke. You'll finally be able to meet the leader of the town of Burkehill, Duke Burke, which he aptly named the town after himself. Some of you may have seen the teaser I put into v0.8, which has you, the player, getting into some trouble with the guards in town, and are thus being sent to trial. Unfortunately for you, the judge, jury, and executioner is Duke himself, and he isn't a kind lad.
This update is also going to feature Duke's bodyguard: Tallies-The-Stars. This character was previously known as "Tulm-Kia", who showed up on one of the previous patreon polls. As this character is owned by Mitryll, he's been working on implementing him and his pred scenes into the next update alongside the rest of the new content. Now, check out the new sprites:
The top two sprites are Duke, Tallies-The-Stars is in the bottom left, and Rath can be seen in the bottom right.
Once v0.8.5 is complete, I'll be working on implementing Rath's prey scenes for v0.9, as well as continuing the main plotline. The main conflict and plot is planned to be complete in the big 1.0 update, which marks The Cave itself as "officially" complete and beatable/winnable. Don't you worry though, I'm still going to update the game post-1.0 release, as I have lots of characters (and commission slots) planned.
