Harry, Lisa, Rush, Colonel Young, and several of the other scientists were standing in the computer core room.  Rush had called the meeting.

“I’ve been able to access the subspace link between Destiny and the unmanned ships that were sent out ahead of it,” Rush explained.

“The ones seeding the stargates on the planets,” Young clarified.

“Yes,” Rush confirmed.  “I now have data on literally thousands of gates that have already been seeded.  I’ve only gone through a fraction of it.  But I found something quite interesting,” Rush said as he brought up some data.

“This has almost the same mineral composition as the Icarus planet,” Harry noted.

“How long?” Young asked.

“One year away,” Rush answered.  “Naturally occurring naquadria throughout the planet’s crust.”

“One more year and we could gate back home,” Dr. Volker suggested.

“It isn’t as simple as that.  We’d have to learn how to steer the ship, take control of it,” Rush said.

“It sounds like you have a year to learn how to do it,” Young said.

“But the neural interface device could help with that,” Rush suggested.

“Yet it is still off limits,” Young said.

Harry gestured for the other scientists to follow him out of the room while Rush and Young were talking.  They all did.  He led them to a nearby closed room.

“Does anybody find it odd that Rush comes up with this hail Mary when he wants access to the neural interface device and he needs the neural interface device to speed up his work,” Harry said.

“You think he faked the results,” Lisa said.

“I think it is highly possible and we should verify before we tell anyone else the news.  In fact, I should go verify it right now.  Would one of you go tell Young and the rest make sure Rush doesn’t spread the news?  He’s a manipulative asshole,” Harry said.

“I’ll watch Rush,” Lisa volunteered.

“I’ll tell Colonel Young our suspicions,” Volker said.

It didn’t take Harry long to verify Rush had faked the data on the planet.  Colonel Young was furious and confronted Rush about it.  Rush was warned in no uncertain terms if he tried to spread misinformation to the rest of the crew he’d be confined to quarters and only have access to anything with an observer.  Rush tried making an excuse that he did it to boost crew morale.

Young had asked TJ to do psyche evals on everyone in the crew because she minored in psychology in college.  Her session with Harry was interesting.

“So how are you handling all these new things happening to you since arriving here?” TJ asked.

When Harry heard that Seargent Spencer had been found dead, shot in the head with no gun present he knew it was a pivotal moment for the show.  He could have played along with the role that the canon TV show portrayed.  But that seemed like a very bad idea.  Instead he had used his foreknowledge to program the kino Spencer had used to make his “suicide note” on to also capture Rush walking into the room after hearing the gunshot.  He also programmed the kino to immediately back up the footage onto his laptop remotely before Rush could wipe it.  Could Harry have saved Spencer’s life by preventing the man from committing suicide?  Sure.  Did he feel inclined to? No.

He watched Young ordering a room by room search for the “murder weapon.”  It was Harry who found the weapon in Young’s room.

“Colonel Young, can you come to your quarters?” Scott called over the radio.

A few minutes when Young showed up and saw the weapon Harry held he said, “Oh joy.  I get to be framed for murder.”

“Give me a few minutes to check the kino I had roaming last night and let me see if it caught anything,” Harry suggested.

“Do it,” Young replied.

“You have our attention Harry,” Young said as he stood next to the entire crew of Destiny.

“It will be easier if I put this up on a holographic emitter I put together from parts in Destiny’s stores,” Harry explained.  Which was a bullshit lie.  He’d made the holo-emitter using the Hammond.  “This is the suicide note of Seargeant Spencer and shows who attempted to frame Colonel Young as a murderer after finding the suicide scene.”

Those present watched as Sergeant Spencer said his last words before shooting himself in the head.  Then the recording showed Dr. Rush run into the room, quickly assess the scene, and then grab the gun.

“We found the gun planted in an air vent above Colonel Young’s bed a short while ago,” Scott reported.

“We found evidence that someone deleted the Kino footage,” Lisa reported.  “But Harry was smart enough to have it backed up to a secondary location on Destiny and tell nobody about it.”

“Where is Rush?” TJ asked.

“He obviously didn’t have the balls to see his frame job plot carried out,” Colonel Young said.

“We can’t have a man like that free on Destiny.  Back on Earth he would be sent to prison,” Chloe pointed out.

“She’s not wrong,” Camille said.  “But the truth is we could certainly use Rush’s help.”

“The way I see it we’ve got a few options.  Option 1 is send Rush out an airlock.  I’ll admit I don’t care for that option because the punishment doesn’t quite fit the crime.  Option 2 is we devote resources to guarding Rush around the clock and he only interacts with Destiny’s tech through an intermediary.  Option 2 is slightly more palatable than Option 1.  But I like Option 3 the best.  Option 3 is that Rush serves his sentence for his crime acting as a meat suit for whatever expert we need from Earth that day.  Homeworld command will park the expert’s body in a padded cell back on Earth where Rush will spend his days.  We’ll still need to keep a guard on Rush for any time the connection is disrupted and Rush is thrown back into his body.  But I can rig up an indicator light on a wrist band that will tell us by the color if it is Rush in his body or someone else,” Harry proposed.

The others were amazed by the suggestions.

“Do we really have the right to punish someone by renting out their body to others?” Camille asked.

“Do we have the right to punish someone in any way?” Chloe countered.  “We grant ourselves the right as a society.  We can run it by the higher ups back on Earth.  But the truth of the matter is that Rush committed a crime against our smaller society and is a danger to our smaller society.  It should be us that makes the decision.”

“We can put it to a vote,” Colonel Young suggested.  This earned quite a few agreements.  “Those who vote for Option 1 raise your hand.”  Colonel Young was the only one who raised their hand.  “Option 2 raise your hands.”  About half a dozen hands went up.  “Option 3 raise your hands.”

The rest of the hands went up.

“I’ll get to work on the indicator bracelet,” Harry said.

“I’ll go speak with homeworld command,” Young said.  “Seargeant Greer, could you see to apprehending Rush and his security arrangements.  He’ll be confined to quarters here when his body isn’t in use.”

Later On That Day

When one of the planets Destiny connected to on the next FTL break was found to have a crashed alien ship, Harry took a trip to the planet.  It didn’t take him long to get into the hatch and start figuring out the technology.  His Alteran physiology made figuring out complex problems much easier.  He knew from his foreknowledge this was a Nakai ship.  He also knew that if he powered it up that it would quickly start broadcasting a signal that would bring the Nakai down on them.  So, the first thing he did was disable the long range communications.  He then set about stripping the starship of everything he possibly could after downloading a copy of the database to his laptop.

The away team watched in awe as he even went so far as to break the Nakai ship up into smaller fragments and compress those fragments into cubes using telekinesis.  The alloy the ship was made of would come in handy.  He telekinetically floated the broken up ship through the stargate just before Destiny was due to jump again.  He could study the Nakai ship and use the alloy in other projects.  They also got two Nakai corpses that were pretty rotten.  Harry took many images and scans with his hand scanner.  He again claimed he’d cobbled the hand scanner together from Destiny’s stores.

In the canon show, Young had confronted Rush on the planet about framing him.  The two men had fought.  Young had knocked out Rush and left him on the planet.  In later episodes it had been revealed that the crashed ship was from the Nakai.  Rush had powered up the ship and quickly been captured by the Nakai who had shown up.  Rush had undergone mind probing that revealed a lot about Destiny’s current occupants.  The Nakai had been after Destiny’s secrets for a long time.  In fact they were constantly tracking Destiny.  The Nakai had long ago figured out how to land on Destiny and even cut a small hole in the outer hull to get inside.  But if they tried to enter, Destiny’s shield filled the hole and blocked their entry.  They had figured out how to pull objects out through the hole without entering and not triggering the shield.  But Destiny’s designers were smart enough not to put anything too vital on the outer parts of the ship.  The vitals were mostly buried inside.  If the hole was too big, Destiny’s shields immediately filled the hole and the automated defenses would attack the ship that cut the hole.

Harry had known the Nakai were going to be a problem.  So, after fixing the stellar matter collectors and energy storage systems, Harry had next focused on the weapons and shield emitters.  One by one he’d gone to each of the weapons and used his small nanite swarm to completely refurbish the weapons as if they were brand new.  He’d been doing the same to the shield emitters.  He wasn’t through all of these systems yet.  But he was over halfway done.
