They use CGI for certain things, in this case, the cart and the horse. Bugs me when the animation studios don't find ways to blend it better with the animation, but it's becoming much more coming lately. It even gets worse in some series where they use it for characters as well 🤢

2025-03-04 21:57:21 +0000 UTCThe first time I saw this episode, when she walks behind Jinshi with the bucket of nasty water for his hair and says "excuse me" I expected her to fully dump it right out over his head 🤣🤣 It still disappoints me that she didn't lmao On the other hand, Flexie's angry/frustrated faces when episodes cliffhang are never disappointing 😂

2025-03-03 18:32:48 +0000 UTCJinshi: shows his abs. Flexie: oh my GAAHHHDDD!!!! This was a very cute episode for the most part, a real "Prince and the Pauper" plot. The Master becomes the servant and the servant becomes the Mistress, and Jinshi was LOVING IT! He has a bit of a masochistic streak and Maomao is the perfect foil for him, even if she doesn't realize it. I think she is still trying to stay under the radar and will not allow herself to believe he is anything more than an annoying eunich, which creeps her out when he tries to get close. Hang on, because now it gets like a snowball rolling downhill. Things are gonna come fast and furious.

This show is so great. It got lost with the hype of Frieren coming out at the same exact time. We were so spoiled getting those 2 shows and season 2 of Dangers in My Heart at the same exact time. I think they are 3 of the top 10 shows ever already and this and Frieren are my top 2 ever.

When I finished the manga, I went straight into reading the light novel and I currently finished reading the last one issued. So far there is a total of 14 volumes out in English, with LN 15 not being available in English yet. The story is approaching an end but there's so much more that happens in the novel that I can see this anime being at least 10 seasons. I really hope they manage to adapt the whole story because I can't get enough of it and I really want to see everything animated! Maomao really is the best female MC I have ever seen.

2025-03-02 16:54:31 +0000 UTCoh my goodness. This episode hit me like a ton of bricks when i first saw it, and it had a very similar level of impact on me rewatching it now for the second time. As others have mentioned above, 'adoptive' here does mean this in the literal sense, he isn't biologically her father, but the man who raised her. I had a very similar experience to you actually with this show, I went into it expecting a beautiful and calm experience with some light comedic moments... and was blown away with the emotional depth and complexity of the characters, and the delicacy that is shown in exploring a number of difficult topics. I'm so glad that you're having a good experience with it so far <3
