It's frustrating when other reactors try to remember things but then give up and either say they look it up later (which we rarely learn about) or just move on. You taking the time to hit the pause button and look things up to make sure you remember correctly, is a real service, thanks for that. Sure, it can be overdone and you should watch for that, but you're doing a fantastic job so far.

2025-08-20 01:14:55 +0000 UTCthe translators don't translate the name correctly, the name of the warlord who came up in Arlong Park alongise Mihawk is Jinbei. They will translate it as Jimbei, but the name is suppose to be based on a whale shark, which in Japanese is Jinbei-zame.

Make sure you don't skip Luffy flashbacks in the "filler" episodes in the future. They're really cool to learn more about Luffy.

Remember, the only bit of info he got about the Strawhats was from the Unluckies who sketched Luffy, Nami, and Zoro in Whiskey Peak. He didn't get any other information from the local bounty hunters, Miss All Sunday did not say anything, and he also didn't get any info from Little Garden, cuz everyone was taken out there. Then, when Mr. 2 showed him faces, he showed Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Chopper, and Usopp. Usopp and Chopper were completely new to him, so that's who he was referring to by another member and a pet. He still didn't know about Sanji until the phone call.

2025-08-19 16:03:35 +0000 UTCSince you ended on the topic of warlords, I just wanted to hint at something that the normal English speaking viewer wouldn't be able to pick up on. Don't worry, it's not a spoiler but a pattern. The 3 warlords we have heard mentioned up to this point are MiHAWK, Sir CROCODILE and JINBE, which means "Whale Shark" in Japanese. For the record, you nailed the pronunciation on Jinbe's name and I'm really happy that you remembered him because he is very easily overlooked since he was mentioned only once. When Ms. All Sunday called out Crocodile for calling her by name, it appears that Ms. AS still wants to abide by the Baroque Works's "code" (where it was established quite early that numbered agents and their partners were to only be called by their code name. On the flip side, Crocodile doesn't seem to care anymore because the final mission is already in progress and he doesn't need to hide behind a veil anymore.

2025-08-19 15:17:39 +0000 UTCI think it's a great scene showing Luffy being impaled by Crocodile for the first time. It's Luffy's loss, after he pretty much beat everyone up until now with little difficulty. Crocodile is the first serious threat Luffy is facing and there's nothing he can do in their first encounter. Being his first loss when you expect him to come up with something to drive off Crocodile or put a dent in him is a really nice way of showing just how different the Grand Line is from everything Luffy has encountered so far.

So Usopp is trying to explain that by using an example of Monkey Dance that Monkey by itself is a monkey but Monkey Dance is a type of dance but not literally monkey dancing

2025-08-19 14:21:08 +0000 UTCJust some corrections, so we learned about the Warlord-System from Yosaku while Sanji and Luffy where going to Arlong Park, where we learned that Mihawk is a Warlord, so the first Warlord we've met was indeed Mihawk and then he goes on to speak about Jinbe (was really stoked you remembered him! most reactors don't!) and how he is a Warlord too and has a fishman pirate group in the Grand Line. Next, he brings up Arlong, saying that Arlong "fought alongside" Jinbe (as part of his crew) on the Grand Line, though he didn't powerscale them really, just made it seem like it's a big deal that Arlong is now here in the East Blue.

He wasn't trying to equate their strengths, just drawing comparisons to humans as the context was a discussion of how every Fishman is many times stronger than a human. But like, how can Yosaku be able to determine which of two faraway stars in the sky is closer to Earth. Compared to Yosaku, they're basically both death incarnate in terms of strength. Also as others have noted, Mihawk is the first Warlord we met.

It wasn’t known at the time but Oda originally planned for the whole series to end in 5 years which ended up being the end of Alabasta saga. I’m sure this was crazy to read weekly at the time

2025-08-19 14:01:50 +0000 UTCits a goofy pirate show until the music cuts and the mc is impaled on a sand bastards hook :) one of the best lines in the last episode was luffy describing vivi and crocodile being like "yea there are always fools like that" and luffy agrees with him. he doesnt dispute it instead recognizing that so long as vivi is alive she will keep coming after crocodile so better to take him out here to free her from that so she can go back to her normal life. love luffy's reasoning
