So many people turned away when they noticed the episode count, but I'm glad you took a risk or chance and took a deep dive. To me it's one of the greatest series of our time. By the time it's completed we can all look back in tears with joy. Stick with it and enjoy the roller coaster ride. You won't regret it.

So I end up watching every reaction multiple times lol! Now I'm here... Anyway when Luffy says "People die" I think he means that is how you risk your life for something you believe in. When Sanji was watching at the restaurant at both Luffy and Zorro what they were doing. Owner Zeff told him there are people with spears in their hearts and they will keep moving forward. Sanji even said "...it's easy, just give up your dreams!" Of course that was before he himself joined. We've seen the Strawhat crew risk their lives many times over... But to "knowingly" or willingly risk your life for a cause or a dream... that is sometimes what you have to do, to put it all on the line. You cannot do that without thinking or understanding that you could die. Therefore "people die." You cannot put everything on the line... you can't risk your life without risking everything... yes it means people die sometimes. In Vivi's case... she of course has been risking her life but what Luffy said was "Risk our lives too!" "Aren't we friends?!" She had been risking her life but never considered risking Strawhat crew lives. It's an incredible commitment that Luffy was telling Vivi that they are all there for her... that they will all stake their lives together. This is the reason why Luffy is going after Crocodile. From out of a sand trap Luffy crawls out asking, demanding for meat...! He intends to make Crocodile pay for disturbing Vivi's world and her peace of mind... Complicated plans and machinations do not matter to Luffy... But yet in a rebellion, in nation building... that is also a grand dream... and as such, people may die. Actually... when I think about it, Luffy definitely said people will die as a fact, And so goes the rebellion.
