Reno is still learning and growing it seems. He learns a good lesson here, that he has a good team that he cam rely on. He doesn't have to do it all himself, which is something I think many of us have to learn. Also, this is his first time taking the no. 6 suit into real combat, it makes sense that he's going to struggle a bit. It's got a HUGE amount of power, that he needs to learn to regulate and control. I know he's going to do it. I feel like he's got plot armor for the moment in this early part of the story a it builds up, so I'm not really worried that he'll fail, and that'd be a surprising twist if he did fail. I 'm excited to see how Reno and Iharu develop going forward. I can imagine them all (especially vice captain Soshiro and no. 10) powering up for the battles that are coming for them.

I wonder if those thoughts of Ichikawa that we are hearing, about him not being strong enough, are really his thoughts or the kaiju’s. Maybe the final thoughts of the kaiju when it was taken down? It’s just an idle thought based on the sound of the voice, that’s all.

2025-09-04 01:31:59 +0000 UTCHi manga reader here It is not filler it is very much canon and the point of this is so that reno can prove that he is worthy of welding the kaiju no 6 weapons suit and just because this episode didn't focus on characters like kafka, narumi, and shinomiya doesn't mean that it is filler and people still fighting in anime despite having broken bones and other injuries isn't a new thing there are people in other animes that do it alot

I am just really confused about why Reno has to defeat this enemy without the help of his captain. This fight was simply part of his training and I don't think they expected him to finish it off by himself anyway. It was just a test run to see to what level he was combat ready. In other words, they already knew he could use the weapon and he had already shown them he was improving faster than they expected. He was already exceeding their expectations. So all that was left was prove that he could handle the mental stress it caused him. Fighting until his body was getting hurt and then pulling out as soon as his captain gave the order seems all perfectly fine to me. Learning how to deal with the mental burden the weapon causes him is part of the training after all. I see absolutely nothing wrong there. I'd even say he once again exceeded their expectations after just one month of training. So why on Earth is his friend asking the captain to stay back and allow them to keep fighting despite the fact that Reno is badly hurt, and why the hell does the captain allow this??? It all seems wildly unproductive, unnecessary and extremely reckless to me. I'm sorry, but this episode made absolutely no sense to me and this just screams 'filler content'. I've never read the manga so I could be completely incorrect. But there's just too many inconsistencies with the other episodes that preceded it.
