One Piece - Episodes 119-120 (EARLY UNCUT ACCESS)

AMAZING - lets go Zoro! (Alabasta Saga)

Comments

Protagonists are the good guys. The antagonists are the bad guys. Just wanted to clear that up.

JojoJack

It is a running joke in the community that Oda is a murderous maniac in flashbacks but way too soft in the main timeline of the story to kill characters lol That said, Bellemere didnt get shot in the chest, it was in the head, but the anime changed it

Valto

Sadly it's too early

Mo za

Average one piece fan 😂

What I like about this fight is the similarities between the dialogues of kid Zoro and Mr 1. They both just want to cut everything so basically Mr 1 is sort of a version that kid Zoro dreamed up to be. Someone that can cut through everything, but as Zoro’s sensei was saying this is not true swordsmanship, someone who can protect and choose what they cut is true swordsmanship. And it is super cool to see when Zoro was close to death the first thing he thinks of was the flashback of his captain’s order and his Nakama’s well beings instead of him caring about winning or losing. He cares more about protecting and it is sort of like a prerequisite for him to tap into the state of feeling the rhymes and thus cutting through steel. Masterfully done in Zoro’s mindset from beginning of the episode to the end of the episode through contrasting the dialogues of the characters.

Oda once said that he doesn't like killing characters because that would make it hard for everyone to be joyful and celebrate at the end of the arc. That doesn't mean it will never happen though... Also, flashback deaths are a different story.

Everybody got infinite revives 😩

I dont know if you saw it but in that dreamy moment where Zoro is feeling the rythm of everything arond him he strikes the leaves with his sword and doesnt cut them, just like Koshiro with the piece of paper, and then with the same sword he cuts the rock and the steel. Its what Koshiro was saying about cutting nothing and anything.

Valto

how to fight croco? call firefighter. lol

reddnik

zoro is lowke the poet of straw hat pirates

reddnik

I agree. Besides, this is a shounen back in the early 2000s. And not AoT or Akame ga Kill. If people wanted to see characters die then there is always other animes to watch.

Ace The FireDragon

WHAT?!?!? I don't recall anyone telling me that when I experienced that moment. That or I just didn't see the comments but thank you for telling me this.

Jessica McCann

YES I was thinking about that!

Jessica McCann

I already posted about that in the Patreon chat and in the discord :) I'm traveling - but recorded it before traveling. So it is late but will post soon <3

Zoro's teacher is telling him that real swordsmanship requires that you serve something. Being strong for the sake of being strong vs being strong to serve something are two different. His teacher warns zoro of the former and suggests the latter. Zoro's question was "how can i become a swordsman that can cut steel?" but his teacher asks "For what reason do you want to be a swordsman that can cut steel". Zoro hasnt yet answered this question and that is what he is lacking. A clear vision of what drives his sword. The answer to that was his crew. He cares so much about all of them (but will never admit it lol). That clears his mind and makes space for his growth, he probably felt delighted as he said "I can get much stronger". For a man trying to be the greatest, feeling like he cannot get any better would be terrifying. This is the first true display of Zoro's loyalty to his captain Luffy. He shows it by surpassing himself. This was an amazing way to develop his character. P.S: Its going to get harder and harder to only watch a couple of episodes at a time ;)

Wait, where's the new ep for 86?

Kiiro

zoro tougher than steel

makima

not a single distraction from zoros peak

Regarding Bellemere's death, she was shot in the head in the manga, so of course she died. The anime just censored it, showing she was shot in the chest, assuming that viewers will see it as a shot directly through the heart. And with Zoro's battle when Mr.1 made that spiral blades, it was only on his forearms, not his fists, so when he hit Zoro, it was mainly his fist dealing the most impact than the blades. But because of how hard he hit Zoro, bending Zoro's body during the punch, the blades luckly only sliced his chest a bit, meaning the cuts were not deep as Zoro mentioned. And how I personally like to look at it is, there are many real life situations where I heard/read about people who got shot or stabbed multiple times and still survived, and then labeled a miracle, but also confirmed that no "vital organ" got hit. So I just look at it as, as long as no vital organs were hit, it's possible they could've survived. Do note that the anime is more censored with the violence, but I do agree that it's crazy how some characters survive certain attacks😂 love this anime and your reactions to it💯

D.Pirate.K

Some ppl die some don’t basically however Oda feeling that day, but it never took away from the story in my opinion.

Jordino Hibbert

We need a OP laugh tierlist

Ace The FireDragon

There are some things you can truely appreciate only on a rewatch. Im sitting there like "ohhhh he did the thing! You know the thing! HELL YEAH!!"

Ace The FireDragon

Oda really took plot armor and anime rules and said "These are the same thing until I say they're not!"

Now you have made it to the main reason why everyone was telling you to ignore the power scaling in the Warship Island filler arc. From what I remember it caused a lot of discontent because Zoro cut the steel chains. Hopefully life works for you to be able to binge some, would love the extra content 🥰

Andrew S

It may not be mentioned but... if you know you know.

The Abyssal Drink

The rest of this saga is so binge worthy, we would love the drops but your schedule is full so chill lmao watch and find your answers but keep these amazing reactions coming to this amazing series (Backstory characters don’t have plot armor, characters have physical strength that seems like literal body armor)

Kcosta

You may have noticed both now and previously with other animes that mystical katana user monologues often mention things from Buddhist syncretic esotericism. This is a trope common in Japanese media, where a person who masters sword arts seeks enlightenment through their weapon, and who will often also be versed in ideas and metaphors that are Hindu/Buddhist in origin which historically found their way to Japan. The foundations for this trope can be found in the treatise "The Unfettered Mind"(also known as "Immovable Wisdom") written by Zen Buddhist monk Takuan Soho. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Unfettered_Mind The key to the concept that Zoro's Sensei is talking about, is that a distinction is being made between not cutting anything versus cutting nothing(ness). ''There is a rhythm to everything, but particularly in the martial arts, if you do not train in its rhythm it is difficult to succeed.'' - Miyamoto Musashi, The Book of Five Rings

hurryupmode

7:50 you calling their moves is a wild fan level I didn’t expect yet, and honestly I shoulda known better 🤣 31:45 a correction, he found the wado ichimonji first but found all three, he CHOSE to use a single sword technique because he said he was putting his will into the attack and it’s understood that he could only trust it to one blade- When it came to leveling up, the rhythm thing isn’t ever mentioned again but it’s just a swordsman thing we guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kcosta

There's death in one piece. But this isn't what the series is about, more important than living in OP is making your dream true, so your dream being shatered IS the death in OP.

Gabriel Ramos

LETS GOOOOOO

Kcosta

Great video. I love when Zoro is saying his will is being put into his sword. It's such a step up in his growth as a fighter being able to control his willpower like that to cut only what he wants. He's such a badass that can tough out a win through any injury.

IcepickEvans

Yeah fake deaths go hard in early One Piece.

Kelly coleman

you know the enemy is cooked when Zoro's music hits like that

Naishiuan

Bellemere actually got shot in the head in the manga. Arlong shooting her in the chest was just anime censorship. So it's not the same as Koza.

Sakarael

Zoro the aura farmer back at it again. Love it!!

Sky DR

The Zoro/Mr. 1 battle solidified Zoro as my favorite character in One Piece and it hasn't changed since. I love how he also assumes the role of Captain in Luffy's absence as he worries about the rest of the crew. I also love the part when he finally understand what his master was talking about, proceeded to NOT cut the leaves with a hard swing and slicing through the sone rubble like it's butter. The best part is that he's only going to get cooler from here! (By the way, I think you meant "Antagonist" when talking about Crocodile. The protagonist is generally the good guy)

Tabo51

Great Episodes. Crocodile one of the best antagonists. Great Zoro fight. Vivis cry always send chills down my spine. And on top a great reaction. Thanks as always. Regarding the not dying, Oda, especially at the beginning of the story, uses serious, normally fatal wounds more for dramatic, emotional impact of the story as for realistic depiction. One Piece is a lot more focused on emotional impact and consequences, so events are sometimes a lot less realistic. As Oda evolves over the years this "shouldn't they be dead?" moments will be less and less so no need to overanalyse things here. Its just his growing phase how to handle and showing impactful emotional moments.

Silvanus2004

I mean that Zoro fight is incredible! I liked One Piece, and currently Luffy is my favorite, but this fight, hearing Zoro talk about the Rhythm of things, that's what got me hooked. That's when I realized that something grandiose might be happening with this show and Oda's writing.

Irvin Mugo

Chiils! One Sword Style Lion Strike is such a badass attack.

John Paul

"When I defeat you I'll be a man who can cut even steel" is such a hard line.

KevinsLunchbox

This was oda's bad habit in early one piece, he loves fake out deaths. We just kinda got used to it as a community

Ben

I love crocodiles laugh

Patrick Jung

Let's goooo this is a peak zoro episode 🔥
